im running a small t3 turbo,im pushing 10 psi,id like to know how that would compare to pushing 10 psi from a t3/t4 or bigger turbo,i understand they would both be pushing 10 psi but how would it be different,by cfm's?please school me on this,and please only add your $.02 if you really know the answer,thanx.

think of boost pressure as a measure of the engine's resistance against the air that the turbo is pushing...and a bigger turbo will flow more air as the same pressure...

 

wow,what trim would my turbo be,its a saab t3,.42 a/r on the intake and .48 on the exhaust?

I have looked into this alot and all I have been able to figure out is that it has to do with efficiency and not air flow. Like it was said boost is boost. if your motor will only flow 40lbs/min of air at 10psi then that is all its going to flow. Putting the biggest turbo known to man is not going to change the resistance to airflow in the engine its self. The only thing that does change is the efficiency of a particular turbo. I suggest looking at http://www.turbofast.com.au or something like that. You can plot points on the maps and compare all the popular turbos. Find the one that has the best efficiency for your application and you will make the most power. I will say that bigger is not always better.. someone running a stock d series with low boost is not gaining anything from a 60 trim hybrid.. Honestly a normal t3 is enough for it.
