bought del sol with LS swap - Alternator, speedo, cruise control problems
I bought my first honda today.
a 93 del sol with over 200K miles on it.
at some point the motor was swapped with a integra ls motor.
I dont know if thats good or bad.
I test drove it last week. everything was good.
i bought it today and everything seemed ok. untill the battery appeared to be dead.
I jump started it and took it to auto zone to get it checked out.
they said its probably the alternator.
my issue is....
what alternator do i look for. I dont really know anything about the motor so i am not sure what to look for in the alternator.
next issue
the speedo doesnt work.
im wanting to buy a interment cluster and replace the whole set up anyway but if the issue is not with the cluster what could it be?
cruse control does not work.
I dont know if they didnt hook it up when they did the motor swap or whatever...
any ideas on this one?
i know im not giving much info but any questions you have may actually help me out.
any advice and or help would be greatly appricated.
I hope my first honda doesnt burn me.

You want the b18 alternator. Do you know what year integra it was swapped out. Might be able to get away with a b16 alternator but theres alot of b18s in junkyards so i say pull one ot and hook it up
find out what excact motor it is there is a engine coden on the block right no the front.
buy an alternater for said engine
(i like LS motors, torquey lil guys)

All B-series alternators mount the same, buy whatever year you need to fit the plug on the car. If it's a round plug order an alternator for a '94 - '95 Integra, if it's a square plug order for a '96 - '01 Integra.

the motor is out of a 95 acura integra. Your car is a 93 most likely they kept it obd1 so you will need to order the altenator for a 94 or 95 acura integra 1.8 non vtec
Since it seems that you have an OBD1 LS motor, you'll need to order an alternator for a 94-95 Integra. If you take the old one out to bring to the auto parts store to return as a core when you get the new alternator, make sure the plugs match from the old one to the new one.
Take a pic of the engine bay for us. The previous owner might have deleted cruise control when he did the engine swap.
btw your trans was most likely swapped with the ls. unless your del sol originally had a b16 in it you are going to have a new/not original trans in your car as well.
onto your alternator issue
as was stated before you need to make sure the alternator you get matches the plug on your current alternator.
I will most likely get flamed for what i am about to tell you but I will say it anyway cause i dont care lol
Single cam alternators of the same year will work on your ls or any other b series motor for that matter. I have done this before and it works fine and the single cam alternators are much easier to find on craigslist and at junk yards. just take your alternator with you when you go to get another one and make sure everything matches up.
good luck and congrats on the new del sol
