1999 Civic EX oil leak, need help with diagnosis
I picked up a 1999 Honda Civic yesterday. I woke up this morning to an oil leak underneath the distributor, right at the front left corner where the head meets the block and the transmission meets the block. I replaced the o-ring in the distributor, thinking this could be the potential problem. The previous owner had the water pump, timing and head gasket done less than 10,000 miles ago. I noticed that it leaks very little when the vehicle is on, but as soon as I turn it off it begins to pour quicker, like the lack of compression allows it to flow freely out of the motor. I'm not entirely sure what to do next, here is a picture of the leakage. Any advice as to where the oil leak could be occurring would greatly appreciated!
Check the vtec solenoid. it has two gaskets one between the top and bottom sections of the solenoid and one between the v/s and the head. they are dealer only and will cost about $30 for both. or double check the head behing the distributor for any cracks and make sure you used the correct o ring on the distributor. if that isnt it then the head gasket is bad and needs to be done properly. cause if the head gasket is the issue then whoever changed it (if it even was changed) did one or a number of things wrong.
