Default 94 Accord with a 95 engine giving me transmission problems.

First off, the trans is automatic. I finally get this thing rolling since having to switch out the engine due to a blown head, and on my journey to smogging the thing, it starts aborting the tests and on my way home the transmission starts acting up pretty bad. Before the test it had only slightly jumped when shifting but now it revs up pretty high before switching into gear and does it in pretty much every gear. I've got black/burnt transmission fluid. Any Ideas?

Change the transmission fluid... NOW!

Sorry about that I have tourettes, lol. Yeah, I would change the fluid though.

Sorry to hear about that. If it ever dies I would pick up a low-mileage JDM one from one of the many retailers in the States. I have one in mine and it is a very good unit and the price is unbeatable. Installed it myself too, wasn't that hard.

The engine I put in was in great shape, I'm just really hoping that my transmission isn't failing and it's something small, I'll change the fluid and see if that does anything. I'm kind of new to all of this so I know there could be a ton of things I'm overlooking.

your transmission is trash now. black burnt fluid. the black from the clutch packs slipping and removing all the clutch material. changing your fluid will only make it worse as your removing the only friction material that is mixed in the fluid you have now. change it and you will remove all that material and then it will slip worse. go to the junkyard find a car that has been wrecked from the back or the front. if you live in cali they are about $150 out the junkyard plus you can get $50 warranty from the junkyard and if that one goes out then you can get another one. it doesn't matter weather the engine is BRAND new or rebuild if it revs high when shifting its the transmission. go ahead waste your money on expensive fluid only to find out it will only get worse.

Wow, you just destroyed the wisdom of my last post....

Is that really true though, changing the fluid only makes it worse? I guess you learn something new every day.

I had a low mileage JDM transmission shipped to me for $350 from ebay.

Thank you for your help. It's got to be a pain to pull out a transmission at a junk yard. Any advice on that? Also, am I going to need more than just a transmission? Are there years that I can pull from that will work other than just a 94? Sorry for the million questions, my stepdad is helping me with this thing and I'm just trying to learn as much as I can.

i know becuase ive gone thru 4 transmission now on both my accords i have a 90 and a 91. my original transmission got worse when i changed the fluid. it was only slipping quite a bit, hardly noticeable then when i changed the fluid it would just slip on first hard core then second would slip in third would bang in. the transmission i went thru from the junkyard on my 91 was just like this one. then i changed the fluid thinking maybe its old. it smelled burnt didn't look burn changed it. it didn't even slip it just didn't engage.

well at the junkyard i just drop the whole engine i cut away at everything and drop it. some junkyard have a crane you can use once its down its easier to remove then to remove motor mounts. brackets. hoses. starters etc. and like above me some prelude transmissions fit not all, and 90-97 accords
