Default 97 civic cold start issue

Hello, everyone I am new here as you can see just discovered this site and I am amazed.

This morning I went to start up my 97 civic it cranked and started but then died. Second try I started it and gave it a little gas for a good 5 seconds it started and idle just fine. My question is could it be a sign that the alternator is going bad? Or something else?

How do you figure alternator? First thing I ask; When was the last tune up?
Any Cels when this happens? Fuel pump prime when the key goes to the ON position?

I thought the alternator would keep the engine running. But I'm not sure how i came up with that either
Probably does need a tune up, I'll do this tomorrow
It has a code 14 (IACV), 65 (Secondary O2 Sensor heater) and the fuel pump does prime. (By prime means hearing it click right?) Thanks for the help I appreciate it
