I have a 98 Civic Sedan DX. I can not decide what all I should have painted when I take it to my body guy. I have already found the Cypress Green Pearl paint, just have to go pick it up. I know that I want to paint the body side moldings, door handles, license plate frame, side skirts, and front lip.

My question is, if I leave the mirror's black...would it look stupid? Where I live, people leave their trash cans out on the side of the road all the time. I have almost hit a few of them a couple of times. I dont want to get the mirror's painted, and then knock one off and have to spend money getting it repainted. So, should I just leave the side skirts and the mirror's unpainted? I really need to get your opinion on this. The car is going in for paint in a month, so need some opinions.

 

you should get everthing that is not colored, colored.. i think its either all or none.. i will be doing the same to my hatch.. getting mirrors, side moldings, door handles, side skirts, rear licencse plate pocket and lips.. should be done in about 2 or 3 weeks.. ill post some pics up and maybe you can decide then

 

Learn to drive then. That's not a paint issue.

Yes, PanchoEK, is right. You have to paint all parts to get an excellent result. In other case - it will be like a rainbow puzzle.

 

grumblemarc...its kind of hard when you live out in the country and there is no light. my headlights are all hazed over, so it is hard to see out there. my car is going in in about 3 weeks as well, so i am going to post some before and after pics as soon as i get it out. cant wait! i am just going to get everything color matched, i have been thinking about it for a few days now. i have made my decision, and the replies here have helped...thanks!

 

Agreed as far as learning to drive! All or nothing with the paint I think in this case yes... But I think what to paint has to do with the vehicle in question not just all or nothing.

 

Disagree with the "paint everything" bandwagon. There should be some elements that offer some contrast, rather than a car that is a sea of green blob. In my opinion, leave your door mouldings and side skirts black. Mirrors, door handles, front lip (on a 6G), rear license holder will look good if painted.

 

I would leave the side skirt black and paint all other parts,side molding,mirroir etc

If you interior is all grey paint it black, there some d.i.y about it and it looks way more sick

All or nothing is correct. Park with enough space between the other cars, park in the back 40, don't hit trash cans.

I take it back. This car looks great (Libertariat's). All mouldings and side skirts are paint-matched. I guess it's the 5G Civics that I don't like if they're all one colour.

 

One color is the best way to go. The more things painted to match the body the better the model. Now your DX sedan can look like an EX sedan. Personally I wouldn't paint it green as it's not a JDM color.

all, nothing or just some. just depends how you do it.
on my hatch. all I painted was the mirrors and license pocket. left everything else that was black, black.

 

Now on this car above me is fine to leave the side molding black because it has si-r bumpers.. and I think that is the only exception for me to leave it black.. just finished painting mine... very bad pics with phone
