Clear coat's slowly fading on roof and pillars... repair or vinyl?
Just throwing it out there. I have an 07 Civic Si in the Galaxy Grey Metallic. Unfortunately, the roof has sun spots and lost a good amount of clear coat, and now I'm seeing fading on the pillars. I really like the color of the car, but I wonder if this is an opportunity to thrown down some black vinyl on the roof and repair the pillars. Has anyone done this before? At least... have they changed the roof color? I speculate a bit of smoothing and sanding is necessary to allow a clean application of vinyl. I can't just throw it on the roof and call it a day.

I think those year civics have a recall on faded clear coat on the roof.. you might wanna contact your local honda dealer and ask them.. besides that.. i wouldnt do vinyl!
Yeah that looks pretty bad for an 07! I mean I don't know about any bulletins about fading paint but I would def. contact a local dealer to find out! No to vinyl!!

I read somewhere about a bulletin on 03-05 Odyssey's Midnight Blue Pearl clear coat having that very same problem! If the car is still covered under warranty they would probably take care of you but if its an extended warranty I think it may only cover certain body panels... As for you feeling like people laughing behind your back... You need a different kind of forum for that! lol
For an 07 that's terrible, there must be a defect. Even my my 20 year old Blazer's paint is in better condition and it's still original.
