My 95 civic ex 5 speed randomly started struggling to start. battery is charged, and it'll turn over all day long. I can hear the fuel pump priming as well. It seems to only occur when the motors cold, or it's colder weather. I'm in Maine so the temps are varying a lot right now. leading upto this some mornings my car would start, rev to idle for a second or two, then die. and it would occur randomly, sometimes it'd happen every time i'd start it or i'd go a month without it happening. Now in the mornings sometimes it starts and will be fine for a while, or it won't start. it's hit or miss. but if when I come home from school in the afternoon, it'll turn over and start up without hesitation. I'm wondering what this could be, if it's the main relay or a chaffed wire, or a bad ground. I'm not sure what the deal is.

 

i would say try replacing the main relay..I had one that was doing something very similar to this.

 

Thats similar to what my 95 does. I changed the plugs and wires today, hoping that will help. Just have to wait til morning to test it.
