Icon2 CRX MPFI D16Y8 Swap?

Whats up H-T,

Sorry if this is a little newb-ish question but please note that I have been going through forums and searching, but I haven't come across anything exact, so I just wanted to clarify that I'm on the right path. I've owned 2 EG's and 2 EK's a CRV and decided to finally jump to the car that got me into Honda's in the first place.

1st the car I'm picking up is a Automatic 1988 CRX DX which means DPFI. :'-(

2nd I already have an almost complete d16y8 swap in my possession w/ manual transmission. I know I will have to swap from cable to hydraulic, and convert the car to manual. This doesn't seem to hard. But any input, advise or information on this will help.

My real confusion is with the DPFI and MPFI conversion. I'm planning on converting OBD0-OBD1 and using a P28. I was reading you have to switch the Pin-out to ECU but that was for OBD0 so I'm confused. This is my first EF so please keep the blows subtle, although I already am expecting some type of flame.

1. Will I still need to do the MPFI swap prior to using jumper harness and new ECU?
2. What would be easiest way to accomplish MPFI conversion in order to use the Y8 manifold and Y8 swap?
3. What cars have compatible parts with CRX? (Such as Manual Pedal Assembly and other parts needed for auto to manual swap) I can be a junkyard junky and need to know what else I should be looking out for since CRX's are hard to come by.

Any info is greatly appreciated. And I will be continuing my searches in the mean time. Thank you.

1. Yes, you will have to do the mpfi swap prior to going obd1.
2. What injectors do you have? Distirbutor? It'll depend on that but it should be straight forward google it for better answers.
3. I believe the hatch pedal assemblies are the same but you can always double check online.

Basically you convert to mpfi first then you convert to obd1 they sell the whole conversion online and ebay if you dont wanna mess with wires and as far as transmission i would look for a cable d series unless you wanna buy a hydro conversion

Personally i would convert to mpfi then buy obd1 conversion, it just plugs into obd0 ecu clips (plenty online sometimes even locally)
Also might want to stick with a cable tranny just for ease and cost. Other than that swap is simple and all over the web. Ill add in your going to have to add for vtec but again many how-to's online.
Just do plenty of reasearch and good luck!
