Default Need help with oil leak?

I have a 2000 civic 4cly with automatic trans. I have a oil leak from the bottom middle area of the motor. The leak is not coming from above and running down the motor. If I wipe the oil off with out the engine running it will not leak. But it will start leaking again once the engine is running at idle. This is not a major leak with oil spraying everywhere, but is a kinda slow drip? Any help would be appreciated!

It looks like where the motor and trans come together? I don't know much about the Honda's. It appears to be coming from the very bottom of the motor/trans? Hard to tell if it is coming from the oil pan gasket because the passenger side of the oil pan area is not real visible. I will figure out how to post a pic. Thanks

Shouldn't be coming from the oil pan, it's more liklely the:Distributer O-ring/cam seal,or vtec solinoid maybe the head or block is warped and thus not fitting flush. once you ID where it's coming from RTV sealant or new gaskets will fix the issue

It's not coming from the distributer there are no signs of oil around it. I'm guessing the cam seal is located inside or hard to get to? Where is the voted solenoid located at? And no signs of oil leaking from the head?

sometimes these can leak and give the impression of the head/block leaking. and yes it's possible to come from inbtween those 2. OOOPS you have a SOHC just check the vtec solinoid forget what i said about cam seal heck you didn't even say what engine you have is it a vtec one ?

Kind of like that? If so that is your rear main seal leaking. Transmission and flywheel have to come off to get the job done.

Wow, I didn't know it was possible to butcher an image link that badly. Did you not see the big button that says "IMG code"?

This is actually the reason I joined this forum, I have an oil leak on my gsr hatch, kinda like you guys described earlier(looks like its between the head and block!) Replaced solenoid gasket, distributer gasket, cam seal and finally the head gasket. still not stopped, leaks down the block over the engine code and its starting to drive me crazy.

That's what I was afraid of (a rear main seal). What is a typical cost for this repair? And where is the vtec soleniod located I would like to check that. Thanks.

You don't have vtec, thus you don't have a vtec solenoid.

i dunno what kinda shop u plan on going to. im sure most shops are gonna want a couple hundred bucks to pull the transmission to replace the seal. id look at an estimate of 200-300 bucks. its an auto... if u were close id charge u 150 including the seal installed. i dont know if ur near delaware at all PM me i can take care of that in day. most shops will prob charge u 200 or so to change it. its a bitch because u have to pull the oil pan to get rear main housing off or pull the studs and replace them with nuts when ur done.
