im running a home made T25 kit at around 9psi intercooled w/ a 12:1 FMU and inline fuel pump.

I made a top speed run and as i reached about 115-120 mph in 4th gear my car started to studder and then POP POP. I got off it and took it out of gear to see if it would still idle and wouldnt sieze or anything to see if i didnt blow my motor.

It started searching for a idle, which usually happens when i boost a lot (which i dont know why it needs to hunt for a idle maybe fuel pressure?) but i restarted the car and it idled fine. No headgaskets blown or anything car still runs fine.

What could have caused this?

 

it's quite possible that you were pooling fuel and it was overly rich. though, not knowing more it might also be detonation. if I'm in a position where my engine is revving slowly (ie. low revs or in a high gear) it can happen if I'm running rich...all that unburnt fuel starts to add up and pretty soon you are flooded...

though, as I said...it could be detonation that you weren't really noticing in the lower gears, as they were going by more quickly.

he probably meant what motor and stuff............. any ways hoe loud was the popping???? it was probably detonation... especially when boosting for a long time and the turbo and motor get very hot especially wiht a fmu setup can easily cause detonation.

 

it was pretty loud and it was coming from the exhaust, like the muffler didnt hear it on the engine side. the CEL came on right after it happend
