Default 2005 Honda Accord EX V6 - Tansmission Fluid Change or Flush

I have a 2005 Honda Accord EX V6, with 122,000KM. I was thinking of getting the Transmission Fluid changed. One Honda Dealer said it would cost $169 to flush the Transmission. When I called another Honda Dealer, they mentioned that honda does not recommend performing a Transmission Flush, and they do a Transmission Fluid change for $79. Now I am confused whom to believe. Any suggestions

A flush means different things, to different people. A "power flush", where the fluid is forced through the transmission, is a no-no. A flush where the transmission's own pump circulates the fluid, is safe. Honda also calls changing 3 quarts at a time, in succession, a flush. That might be what the dealership was referring to when they said flush. It will cost more, simply because they will use more fluid. The other dealership was probably talking about a single drain and fill. You would have to ask them for specifics. If the fluid is dark and dirty, I would have them do the flush, as long as it's not a "power flush". If the fluid is still bright red, and looks pretty clean, you could go with the simple drain and fill.

BLKFLSH is correct. We call it a ''Flush'' when we drain and fill the trans several times (we use a case, drain-fill drive it through the gears, repeat 3x). This ensures that the "old fluid" in the torque converter has a chance to cycle through. Like he said, dark, dirty-flush it, red-drain and fill only.

Don't pay anyone to do it. It's stupid easy to do yourself. Just go buy 12 quarts of the ATF of your choice (DW1, Maxlife, Transmax, Amsoil, whatever) and a ATF plug crush washer from a dealership. Then drive the car to get the ATF fluid hot, drain it, refill with 3 quarts, drive it a few miles, then drain and fill 2 more times. At the end, you should have used all 12 new quarts. Done. That's Honda's recommended flush procedure.

Go to Eric The Car Guy's Youtube channel, and find the video on changing Honda transmission fluid. It's dead simple, you don't even have to jack the car up.
