My gas mileage has decreased the past couple of years. Previously the lowest was 39 mpg in the winter, but now it is down to 36. I have done all the recommended things to increase gas mileage, but no change. Any ideas?

 

Driving habits can alter the fuel consumption that much, easily. Also, when it comes to losing only 3mpg... a slightly clogged air filter, fuel injectors with a minor amount of carbon on them... the list is quite long.

 

HCH = Honda Civic Hybrid, I'm assuming?

 

Might be time for a tune up, spark plugs, filter, fluid changes, fuel injector cleaner, seafoam, etc. Hybrid batteries do not like the cold so you are expected to loose a few MPGs.

 

Yes, and I just had my annual service and everything was good. I bought this car new and it is just recently that the gas mileage started to go down - just in the past couple of years.

 

Is it just me or is the millage @ 39 mpg not that good? I manage 36 mpg with my regular Civic, I thought Hybrids were like 49 mpg
