Default Is my Crx to jdm for a 90-91 Cluster?? Wiring is way off *PICS**

Hey guys, I am ponderring doing a USDM 90-91 cluster swap into my jdm 89 Crx si (rhd). I bought the 90-91 cluster / hood / switches but today I pulled my oem cluster to get a look at the wiring to compare it to wiring diamgrams I was seeing online, and my cluster doesnt match up.

To wire a 90-91 cluster from an 88-89 harness I read all I had to do was depin the connectors and put the wiring in different pin spots. But after comparing wire colors of what I have, and what the "how-to" says I should have. I think I came to my first problem.

First heres MY 8pin, 12 pin, and other cluster wiring connector, the small yellow one goes to a "pezo buzzer" on the back of my cluster that buzzes when the lights are left on, and when going over 110km/h. But if you unplug it, the interior dome light doesnt work... I took and labelled these pics, this is the wiring going to my cluster

And based on this thread is where I am comparing my wiring to

88-89 8 and 12 pin, what I expected to see

90-91 8 and 12 pin, what I thought I was depinning to and making my connector look like

So thats what I was comparing to. Is there anyway I can make this swap still happen?? I dont quite get why my 88-89 wiring is different, havent had a chance to stare at it really. but I am wonderring if this swap is feasible or not, or if my wiring in the jdm car is just to different.

I figure I may have to pull an mount the "pezzo" buzzer box onto the back of the 90-91 unit, but I hoped the 8 and 12 pin connectors would be the same

Where would you guys go with this??

Appreciate any help

I think the 88-89 have a Cable Driven VSS, i'm sure your gonna hav2 switch to an Electronic VSS to work that. I've spent 30mins, looking for answers to my question. So I can answer yours by saying yes it's definatly possible to make the JDM Cluster work. Your definatly gonna be doing some Solder and Heatshrink though

I'll be working on the same deal tomorrow. My buddies 91 ef didn't have a Tacho, so he bought an ef Cluster w/ the Tacho. Did your ef have the Tacho? If not was the Wire there or, are you going to have to wire it up?

Yes the 88-89 is cable driven vss, but so is the 90-91, no problems there its a direct plug in.

I know the JDM cluster can work, its in my car installed by Honda from the factory right now. I am asking about switching to a USDm 90-91 unit

I do know for sure that the yel/red there that says not used is the VSS signal to the ECU. I just swapped a 98 spec ITR cluster into my hatch and I put the VSS signal back to the ECU.

My car is a 90 and those images you posted where the same as mine.

so when i did mine i just swapped the actual gauges. they all come out with the removal of a few screws. the casings are different so i think they have to be from the same sub-model. the speedo is always the same from what i saw but all the other gauges vary. i swapped my speedo so i had the OG miles w/ an lx tach.
