fuel pump wire upgrade
i head somthing about upgrading your fuel pump's wireing from like the stock "16guage" wire to somthing bigger that i helps in a big way? .. has anyone tried this or even know what im talking about .. i know alot of the DSM boys do it and say good things .. not sure it would matter on a honda??
i've never heard of this for hondas. if the stock wiring was too small, it would get warm during operation. i could see if maybe you upgraded your pump but even then its questionable.
It can't hurt, and its really not that expensive. I have done it to a few DSM's and the owners say they noticed a difference.
Rewiring the fuel pump is only for FI(turbo/supercharged) applications because you may not get enough voltage to your fuel pump to pump fuel cause your stock wiring is too small. you can easily lean out at high boost without correct wiring.
I own a 91 Talon TSI(DSM) and thats a basic upgrade for around $20 we couldnt run over 14-15psi without rewire of the pump, after i did i could boost 22psi without worrying about leaning out when i lost voltage... it would feel like fuel cut but it actually leans out after 15 psi by 17-18psi your enegine will be toast if its prolonged.
So NO you dont need to get it done.
all you need is thick gauge of ground wire and speaker amp power wire with an inline fuse/relay to the battery. I went out and bought a Rockford Fosgate Amp kit and wire loom to protect it under the car(taped up with electrical tape).
N/A Hondas need not to worry unless your running 450-550cc injectors and High flow fuel pump then maybe it would be practical to do so.
