i need the following done.

install bronze guides
cut and install new valve seats and valve job with valves seated etc.

does anyone in WA even have a flowbench?

its kinda embarrasing that we have speedfactory setting fn records and they have to send the block and heads out of state to get work done. sucks big time

 

not everybody has the shop space or money to buy the kind of equipment necessary to do all that, on top of building cars. that's why there are machine shops that specialize in it.

 

i kno. still sucks lol

not sure why you'd need to send a head out of state for basic headwork, but DG and Headsup go good work. I've had heads done by both shops, no issues. The first time I had guides and a valvejob done at headsup with my stock valves. 2nd time, while my motor was at "SPEEDFACTORY" it was done at DG with all new Ferrea valvetrain.

Can't promise you what turn around time would be though, this is busy season for machine shops.

 

Yeah, if you go to DG expect a wait. He is very busy all year round, even more so at this time.. Well worth the wait, but a delay nonetheless.

 

Actually Speedfactory sends their stuff to DG Machine. When I was there a year ago they had a k-series block waiting for work to be done.

I know DG has a flow bench. They did the porting on my motor and explained about having to port it and stick it on the flow bench and how much time it took and stuff.

 

Yep, they pretty much got it all. Been dealing with him for years. He's a good guy.

 

Heads up, Auburn > DG for heads. Period.

But expecting a shop to have a full machine shop in it? What are you ****** new?

i live up north so im not familiar with much of the renton tacoma area where everything seems to happen.

 

Why not use Jays machine in everett, off 112th and 99

 

I have used them many times, very quick turn-a-round and does good work. Bronze valve guides just require a different reamer, so it isn't much different than stock.

If you want head porting done, you want a shop that dedicates their whole shop to heads. For example Portflow. If you know what you are doing a flow bench isn't necessary, and if you have a flow bench but don't know what you are doing a flow bench isn't going to help you.

If you want a basic porting you could probably find someone here in washington. If you want to maximize flow you will need to find someone with a lot of experience, CNC machine, and flow bench. Which is rare to find.
