Default Help on what to do? (95 civic dx hatch)

what should i do?
the only thing i have done so far is a aem short ram.
i have the stock 1.3 L engine. one friend said get a motor swap? another said dont because you will get problems. he said just get pistons and something else that is high performance.

i need an exhaust, lights, tail lights, rims, some interior work, practically everything (pics coming soon.)
what is most important? i dont want a body kit but i am getting some coilovers and a camber kit next. what should i do? i want a good horse power car, but not a super charger, nitrous, or turbo. my first friend has a b16a. not sure what motor that is. 1.6 some thing thats about all i know about engines. help me plz! :D

I think you meant 1.5 liter, but i'll let that slide (some will flame!). If you are just getting into the import scene, I recommend a b18c1 or a b16a. Either one of these engines will give you a great motor to build upon without using turbo or a supercharger.

If you have the money to do it, get a b18c5. They go for about $4800, but it's money well spent.

Also, what is wrong with your lights and taillights? Just curious.

first of all, you don't have a 1.3. you have a 1.5 d15b7 sohc, non-vtec. second of all, you should start with rims and exhaust before you even consider a body kit or tail lights, which IMO shouldn't be changed unless they are broken or not there in the first place. if you want a good horsepower car without any kind of forced induction you're gonna want a B-series engine, but you're gonna want to do some research and find out the best B-series you can afford. they will bolt in without needing aftermarket engine mounts. if you can't afford a B-series, you should save up and not do anything to the d15 under the hood. you can put a cat-back and any suspension mods without affecting your potential swap. your friend's engine is a 1.6 liter dohc vtec that was in JDM SiRs and SiRIIs and USDM 99-00 Si's and i think it was in an integra as well. hope i helped.

IMHO I would turn that around & say suspension, then swap it. That way you can take them in the twisties yO

The b16a wasn't in any Integras, but it was in the Del Sol VTECs.

Any USDM Integras I meant, my bad

the first gen b16 was in the integra XSI in europe/japan.

You will only have problems with a swap if you do it half assed.
I have had 1 problem with mine since the swap. (almost a year now) i had a fuel injector go out. thats it. other than that its ran like a champ.

you WILL have more problems if you do internal work on your d15 motor.

Swap. it will be faster and a better platform for future modifications.

First of all don't waste your money on a b18c5, theres way better options. I'd recomment doing an ls swap and doing suspension mods. Then once you decide if you wanna go all motor or forced induction the b18 has huge potential either way. Just make sure you do your research before you start spending money, and definately dont waste it on tailights and bodykits.

How much are you looking to spend on the swap?

well if yer car is a 88-91 then yes a b16a1 will cost 1200 but if u have a 92-95 civic your are going to need a b16a2 which comes off the 92-+ civic sirs and delsols civic si etc... thats will run any where from 2000-3000 depending on where you go and to get your car to the shop you should simply drive it there heh unless your car dosent work.. you should pay around $400 for install on the motor imo

A shop like Cybernation Motorsports will source you the b16a2/3 motor/tranny/engine wire harness/ manifolds/axles, warranty it, and install it for around $5000...That includes a new timing belt, spark plugs, distributor cap, thermostat, oil change, and timing set...
