How hard is it to swap/fix a blown B18c5 in a 94 hatch?
Im checking out this 94 civic hatch on craigslist, and it has a blown engine, guy wants 1500 bucks for it, and it has a lsd tranny, which i am not really familiar with, not really familiar with honda all that much, and i am wondering how hard it will be to repair/replace the engine? i know pretty much basics of how to work on cars, but never did anything really with engine mechanics, except minor repairs on my old c4 vette, and that was just replacing a rocker, which was only a few bolts, but i know the basics on working on cars, but anyway, heres the listing, is the car worth it?

umm depends on what is "blown", most of the time people say blown motor and its something is fixable with a little time and money if not id say at least your getting a nice body to start with for a decent price
Hondas are stupidly simple to rip motors out of. Depending on how it's blown, it could cost you a couple hundred, or a couple thousand to get running again.
Judging on the way the car looks and parts on it, I would say he is just blowing smoke about any real R parts unless the swap was stolen. Just sayin.
paying 1500 for any old "blown" motor is just a waste of money. another 1500 and you can have a known running C5 with no problems

that thing is a great deal. you can find a nice b16a for under a grand and a nice b18c1 for under 1500 and have a clean, fun daily.
I mean there's no way in hell you're finding a healthy, fully functional B18C5 for $1500, although now that I re-read what dirty said, it makes more sense. HE's saying for $3k you can get one. Sure, but then you still don't have a rolling shell (or probably a transmission).
Honestly, the transmission and rolling shell together are worth the asking price, assuming it doesn't have any rust, and the transmission works correctly. It's a cake walk to slap in an LS, GSR, or SI motor and get that car up and running for under three grand.

I just picked up a GSR complete swap for $3000. I think $1500 for a rolling shell and transmission is a good deal since finding swaps without a tranny are cheaper and easier to find then complete swaps with tranny.
