Default 91 CRX won't start

Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

I have a 1991 CRX (Special Edition). My insurance papers tell me that it has a 1.6L engine.

A few weeks ago my engine died on me. I tested a number of things, and I had spark, so I did not suspect the distributor.

I replaced the fuel filter, because I already had the part. Still no start.

I check out these forums, and I started to suspect the Main Relay. I took it out and tested it. It seems to work normally.

I looked under the distributor cap and discovered the red dust. The bearing must have gone bad. Things looked really awful actually. Check out how messed up this was:

I believe that is the hold down screw migrating underneath the rotor.

So I bought a new distributor. The markings say it is a TD-02U 49/08/A/D
Still no start. I lined the up crank and the cam at TDC. It does not look as if there's been any slippage. The new distributor and rotor are generally pointed at #1. I have spark.

The check engine light goes on once and turns off after 2 seconds. The main relay seems to be clicking at all the right times. The LED under the passenger footwell comes on when you turn the key and goes off immediately. No blinking. I think I can hear the fuel pump priming, but in any case, the pressure relief bolt on the fuel filter always releases pressure when loosened.

The car ran fine before this. The old distributor must have been the problem, but now I don't know what to try next. Fuses all seem to be good. The battery has been out for days so that must have reset the ECU.

I've tried moving the distributor timing around at different positions, and some positions seem to sound better than others, but still no start.

Any suggestions?

Generally pointed at number 1? Sounds like maybe the timing belt broke...you aren't clear on how you lined up the crank and cam. I was going to say ignition coil but you already swapped distributors. Are you sure the plug wires are going to the right places?? If those are all good, you have a bad ecu or injector problem.
