In the market for an S2K... What to look out for?
I currently own an 2006 TSX w/navi. LOVE it,
(https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-tsx-46/where-girls-5-6-smt-3119180/) (I'm on my work computer, I can't post pictures directly right now, so here's a link to where I have posted them....)
but I now have a new job where I can afford a little more. On the down side, I do commute 50 miles to work everyday. Is there anyone else who DD's their S2, and is it do able? I enjoy driving so it would make my commute so much more enjoyable if I could do it with the top down :-)I plan on keeping the S2 realitively stock. I'm saving my Enkei's for it and I would like to possibly get an exhaust, but I want to stay stock height for now. What are some things to look out for when looking to buy the S2? Does anyone drive around the same mileage or DD their S2?
Thanks in advance!

i daily mine all over the place and its fine. issues with the earlier ones are clutch buzz due to weak clutch springs, weak rear diff (shouldnt be a problem as long as the car wasnt launched a lot), the trans can be a little rough shifting. many of these issues were improved with the AP2 (04+) Also some of the early ones have oil starvation issues, which can be fixed by replacing the oil banjo bolts with ones that have additional holes in them. I dont even know what my car has but for street driving I dont think its a big problem.
Other than that just check the car out like any other car purchase, if you get one change all the fluids, etc

I found a pretty decent deal, I just need to make a decision on whether I want to lose my luxury for more power. Ugh... decisions...
Keep the tsx...a two hour commute in an s2000 will get old after a while. If you get an s2000, imo makes the perfect second car.
oh i thought you meant one way...idk i commute about an hour each way and i could never do it in my S, it's just simply too much wear and tear and mileage. Once in a while if it is absolutely gorgeous out, i'll take it. Keep in mind where you park it at work (is it secure?). This is another big reason why i don't take mine to work.

I own both a TSX & s2k. But i couldn't see myself having the S as my only car. Although a lot of S owners use it as their daily with no problems including myself at times. It's always good to have something with a little more room (interior/trunk space) IMO.
Plus I love my TSX too much to ever give it up......
I daily my s2k, my commute is equal to yours (~50mins one way)......
It's a s2000 not a Ferrari, I really don't care about wear and tear, I bought the car to drive it. I keep it clean and do all the maint as needed. It does get a bit uncomfortable if you get stuck in traffic, but not bad really. I drive it in all weather conditions except extreme snow which we haven't really had a problem with. I wanted a solid car to drive everyday that was also fun and got decent mileage, the choice was obvious. If my tundra didn't get 14mpg maybe I'd drive it more daily but this works for now.
Everyone gets a stick up their *** about daily driving a s2000 like its some rare car or some exotic thats not meant to be daily driven.... I don't get what the big deal is.

i dont think that people see it as some exotic, i just see it as a car thats not nearly as comfortable as a tsx/accord etc and would much rather only drive it for enjoyment and not everyday transportation
i dd mine everyday with a loud *** exhaust coilovers and fixed bucket seat. i would not have it any other way or want to drive anything else.
i bought mine for the sole purpose to DD it...5 years going strong...my only complaint is having to fall in it and roll out of it, but im old so maybe a different DD may be on the horizon
Haha.... have the same problem especially leaving the gym, and then getting out when I get home from the gym. Legs day = LOL I hope no one is watching me get out of my car day....
My commute is about to go from 30+ one way to 7 here in about a month.... may park the S for a while and drive the truck some. I racked up some serious mileage. Bought it at 48k last June, is at 62k now....

I can't imagine doing a 100 mile round trip commute in an S2000 daily...it would become quite "old" (for lack of better term). To add to that, coming from a TSX daily driver, you'll really notice the difference lol.
S2000 is a great car, and certainly is reliable enough to pull DD duty...but it's better suited to leisurely drives, weekend trips and serves best as a fun back up to a car like your TSX, and not so much a replacement.
