Default Rebuilding a MiniMe swap.

I blew my head gasket on my mini me swap on my EF. I have too much into this car already lol. I was wondering what head gasket to use with my PM9-4 head? its a D16a6 head. my block is a D15b2 and my number 2 rod is twisted so where can i find d15b2 forged rods? 134 mm?

"goautoworks" might have something in terms of custom 1.5 rods (never looked myself).

For the head gasket, any 88-00 SOHC should work. I'd lean on 88-95 specifically since those heads are from the same casting (non VTEC obviously).

im curious, why that head block combo? A6's are non-VTEC and is the d15b2 a sturdy block?

Well I didnt plan this. I threw this EF hatch together from what my buddy had in a few cars behind his shop. Its a tough block. I ran this engine home from miami fl on bad water pump and no signs of blown head gasket. the number 2 rod was twisted and i burnt my rings thats it. I'm rebuilding it bc the bad rings and number 2 rod. I have a DPFI on this setup and D16 LSD sl3 transmission. Short gear ratio 1st to 3rd and 4th gear for final drive accleration the 5th gear isnt much but for cruise. We were just throwing this car together lol. I top out at 145mph and well pretty much gave this car hell and only twisted a rod. It is vtec tho it came off a 94 honda delsol, the D15B2 came out a 89 honda crx dx, the transmission was built outta b18 gears and other gearsets in his honda parts with a sl3 d series transmission.

haha thats pretty crazy man. do you know what caused the number 2 rod to twist? and i think you have a different head (not a D16a6) lol because i have a d16a6, and it's non-vtec. i have an 89 civic si

ive worked on cars for 12 yrs just bout and well my transmission has a LSD locker in it and the torque has broke front transmission mount and the exhaust bracket. IDK if its the torque to final drive or the heat from running engine on bad water pump. Ive rebuilt worse engines than mine. My headcode is a PM9-4 and it came off a 94 delsol. Its 16 valves and the delsol had two engine options D16a6 and d15b7 im pretty sure its a d16 head. I know my hondas lol. but yeah im having trouble finding d15b2 rods. Need help bc i want forged rods.

it has that much torque? what was the torque before it blew? oh im not saying it isn't a d16 head there are many d16 heads. but the it isnt a d16a6 head (what you said) it's a d16z6 the d16z6 is a vtec head and it was an engine option on the 94 del sol. and quick question. my engine recently overheated (the radiator fan gave out) i got the head resurfaced nice and smooth; whats the correct technique, should i resurface theh block as well?

Yeah wicked lol we dynoed it down in miami and it was 212 ft lb of torque to a 132hp rating. and The gasket is the surface not the block but clean and sand your surface with a extra fine sandpaper. I have a rubber round brush that works on my air grinder that cleans surfaces real well. also get copper head gasket spray and after block and head surface clean spray the copper sealer on the gasket on both sides. torque down to specs. should be 75ft lb on the head. dont quote me lol

is that all motor or is it turbo'd? if all motor, dude that's sweet! what is it that gives it higher torque as opposed to the traditional honda motor that has pathetic torque lol. oh ok cool, where do they sell taht copper sealer? and what about the block warping i think this might be the second time the car has overheated (the previous owner sold it to me with the head off, so im assuming he overheated it)

all motor and tough as hell. the shorter stroke is the bigger the blow lol and yeah everybody is surprised at that lil setup with a dpfi. Overheat problems twice ugh bigger problems with coolant system like heater core stopped up or bad radiator. did you check your thermostat? I bought my ef with a B16 swap and automatic and that went bye bye BHG anyway. but yeah the spray is at any parts store its a permatex brand sealer. I use carquest auto parts or advance.

Longer rod= more torque
Shorter rod = less torque

cx racing has h beam rods for d15b2 but they dont come with rod bolts, they are 134.5 mm for $279

they are the same as Eagle/TT/Scat/other egay rods, they work if you use ARP or similar rod bolts.

i just want to know what creates torque, what are the mechanical parts that make torque. i know its the crank and stuff but what set up would create significant torque?

Your gear ratio in your transmission is what calculates the torque. Its not all bout motor. Compression is a big part. And horsepower how its displaced.
