Question about stock Civic HU and aftermarket speakers...
I am very uneducated in the ways of sound equipment, so please bear with me.
My factory '00 Civic CD player HU and factory speakers do nothing to impress me. I'd like to at least clear up the sound or add a just a little more bass than what there is.
If I were to change my factory speakers with some aftermarket speakers like some Sony 6 1/2's and 6x9s, and using the factory HU, will I see an improvement?
Or should I just change the HU and leave the speakers stock?
I'm looking at spending an ultimate maximum of $300.
Thanks for your help.

Any help would be appreciated.
Are these Sony XS-W1620 any good for the front 6 1/2's?

Or would I not see any improvement with still using the factory HU?

Hey, I have a '91 Civic hatchback and I replaced the stock crap with some Sony 6 1/2's up front and a Sony cd player w/remote and a Sony 760W amp + 10" Sony subwoofer.
Yeah, a Sony Mobile. haha, but I got $75 dollars off for buying all of it at once! Plus free installation...etc.
But anyway, yeah you would see improvement just from upgrading the speakers. But if you're serious about audio, like I am, you'll replace the receiver/cd player because that's what powers the speakers. Your speakers will underacheive with the stock HU.

yes replacing your speakers is the better way to notice an improvement, however why sony??? you can get much better speakers for $300.
check this web page out http://www.carmedia1.com
they have awesome deals on caraudio. check out the rockford hpc2369's and the hpc 2206's they are WAY better than sonys!
$190+ shipping for all 4 speakers and u will notice a tremendous difference.
remember when u buy ur new speakers to go to a local shop and pick up speaker harnesses for your car so u are not damaging factory wires. $10 for all four and they will save u a lot of time!
