Notchy Gearbox on 96 Accord
Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and I've been looking up this question but to no avail. I have a 96 accord with 135k miles on it. I noticed soon after i bought the car, which was about 5 months ago, that the gearbox isn't really smooth. Its actually a bit notchy and feels crunchy going into gears.
I also recently got a new clutch and flywheel and the mechanic changed my gear oil out with fresh oil. After I got it back, the gearbox felt sooo much better but it slowly went back to normal. I don't understand what can cause that and why it would only temporarily feel better.
One more important thing to mention is that my clutch master cylinder has a very small leak. can that be causing this problem?

I'm guessing this is a manual accord. When you say gear oil, if it is gear oil its the incorrect oil in the car. Use Honda mtf fluid only, or your favorite 10w-30 or 10w-40 oil. I personally use 10w-40 synthetic oil.
I run GM Synchromesh in my 175k old manual tranny. Its difficult getting into gear sometimes as well.
