Hey guys, I just went to advanced auto to purchase some spark plugs but the guy told me to check prior to make sure no oil are on them and if there was then to not even get them without changing valve cover gasket first. Anyways, heres a picture of one spark plug. (they are all basically the same looking). They dont have oil on them but im just interested in what you guys think about them. Are they worn to the point of replacing them? let me know please! thanks a lot :D

 

my rule of thumb is, if you don't even know the last time they were replaced, then just do it

Thanks a lot! I think im just gonna go ahead and replace them. Its not a big expense anyhow and it wont hurt to have fresh ones in :D

 

Same here, That's literally one of the first thing's i did to my car. There not expensive at all and it never "Hurts" to have new ones in (: It's a good rules to go by.

 

I usually just go with the cheap copper plugs - its not hard to change em on our cars. I will replace when the electrodes start to look worn/rounded (when new they are perfectly clean and square). Use some anti-seize compound to save your delicate aluminium cylinder head threads during future tune ups. Torque to spec. with a proper range torque wrench. Depending on your driving habits you could go with a 1 step colder range plug.

 

and make sure you check the gap. don't just assume they are right

 

The gap is supposed to be indicated by the part number, but it can be changed by shipping, bumps etc. It's a good idea to verify the gap. I've never had to adjust an NGK gap.
