Default Crank Pulley Question D16Z6

I was looking at the pictures in a DIY thread on a timing belt change and noticed the pictures of the crank pulley.

The thread was from 2003 but got bumped in the last few days.

Anyway, the pictures show I crank pulley on a 93 Del Sol Si (per the posting)that has the hex sided interior that allows the use of the special tool to hold the engine while removing the crank bolt.

I know my crank pulley is the older style and does not have the hex sides.

Are the two pulleys interchangeable? Just curious for future reference.

It's a pain without the special tool. I've seen where people jam the flywheel with a screwdriver. I got mine off by wrapping the A/C protion of the pulley with rubber and using a chain wrench to imobilize the engine.
