I've been looking into a 02 rsx premium 5 speed with some issues. The seller told me that the car will start but the engine would need to be revved constantly for the car to keep running. Something along the lines of what he said was the "oil pressure valve". I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow but whats the worst case scenario? I'm hoping its not a major problem. oil pressure valve? wtf lol Is he making fun new parts I'm not aware of?

Idling issues would probably be a bad IACV which is common. They tend to clog up with gunk and oil etc.. and blowby and ****.

But from the sounds of him he's either knowing it's screwed and not admitting or is confused lol I'd take it to a mechanic to have it looked over at his cost.

 

How many miles are on it? Usually a clogged/dirty IACV will have irregular idling but it shouldn't be stalling completely.

Either way, sounds like the owner is behind on some basic maintenance which could cause you headaches later. Or it might be a simple fix.

It's hard to know without looking at it personally.

Maybe he meant oil pressure relief valve...? but still sounds a little sketchy... be careful man and like the above have said take a mechanic or find out the owners maintenance records if any
