So I have the option to pick up an 01 Accord DX for cheap (really cheap). It's in decent shape, but there's a catch...she turns over and over but won't start. Was told the problem started when the alternator was replaced and since then the vehicle has not run. I have read about the immobilization system causing problems after the vehicle has had the battery disconnected for a while, but the green key light blinks a couple times and goes out like it is supposed to. Current battery has juice and like I said, turns the motor but it just keeps turning. Not acting like it's the starter, there is no "clicking" car acts like it wants to start. It's throwing a couple codes a P0141 and a P1457. Doesn't seem like either of them would impede the vehicle from starting. Hooked up a timing light, but got nothing, so it looks like I'm not getting any spark.

 

Have you pulled a plug wire and verified that there is or is not electical spark? Does it spin faster than normal? You might be looking at a broken timing belt.

 

Going to go look at her again tomorrow. It's snowing out, not exactly my favorite weather to be screwing around with mechanics in. I was thinking it might be the timing belt, if it is, the motor is probably shot huh?
