tranny sealing?
just got a fresh rebuilt tranny and it seems like he didnt seal it all the way on the bottom of the case.. what can i put on it to finish sealing it without taking it out the car? would jb weld work or something of that nature?
raining outside.. so the pic will have to wait but it looks like the guy who rebuilt it, the sealant didnt hold up where the case splits or he didnt put enough or something. i dont wanna take it out. could i just clean it and put some jb weld on it with some saran wrap to hold it in place? im not worried about taking it apart at a later date.
You mean the two pieces of the transmission case itself (gear housing and diff housing I think it's called, I forget to be honest) or where the transmission meets the block?

its just a question. jb weld to seal it and saran wrap to keep it from dripping. im new to cars and dont know how to pull a tranny. i know a few things but that. no. so please take your smart comments elsewhere. i was just brainstorming ways of doing it without it coming out the car.
true. only thing is i dont have a job at the moment besides a weekend job at a local club and dont make much off of that. im running off of saved money to get everything else fixed with the car. it would probably cost me 150-200 to have someone pull it seal it and put it back in. if i knew how to do it believe me i would. i still need a new rack, possibly a new axle or lca. need to switch injectors. new tires. im not trying to take the easy way out. just doing what would be best to get the car back on the road
i messaged him yesterday on carolinahondas. just waiting for him to reply. funny thing is ss zoidberg is im on netflix and i just started a futurama movie haha
JB weld probably wont seal well just because you'll never be able to get the case dry long enough for it to cure. I have patched engine blocks in small air cooled engines with it and it works surprisingly well in that regard. You can try it, it wont really hurt anything, but I wouldn't expect it to stay on.
Btw, the biggest mistake people make in regards to hondabond is using too much. You only want a thin coating around one half of the transmission case, too much and it just squeezes out and makes a big mess everywhere.

Please dont use seran wrap its like making a seran wrap condom. Will work when dry but will get you into trouble when you turn on. Lol yes ive heard of people using seran wrap condoms...
