Hey everyone,

1) This is a d15b2 block with z6 head.
2.) Just put in new tensioner.
2.) I verified that the old belt is exactly the same as the new belt.
3.) I set the timing/tension as per the fsm at least a dozen times.
4.) I have the diagram(s).
4.) I also searched and tried methods on here as well as other sites. I can't quite get it perfect no matter what I try.
5.)I believe I read on here in someone's post that 3mm to the left on cam pulley is where it should be?

Here are three pictures. The crank is exactly at tdc (may not appear in picture, but it is). This is as close as I can get it. Is this good to go? Thanks in advance!

 

pretty sure you need an adjustable cam gear, because the stock cam gear will be 1/2 tooth off.

I just put a Z6 head on my a6 block and had to advance my cam gear 4.5* so it would work right.

 

I bought the car with this setup already, so it had to have been off then too. I was kind of hoping to get it perfect, but adjustable cam gear may be the best option then..

Do you think it will be good to drive with how it is lined up how it currently is? (Haven't started it again)

 

As "Fliptard" stated, you need a different camgear. Adjustable will work as will the Y7/8 OEM camgear. I believe this is documented in most "mini-me" write ups as well. I'm pretty sure it'll run as is but will stumble depending on whether it's advanced or retarded that half tooth.

So, you are made now D15Z6 right ? It's like my engine
think maybe you need just right timing belt and there will be always some free play and not right timing, ideal is just way.

 

I have the z6 timing belt (104 teeth iirc) which I read is the one to get when doing this swap. I followed bauleycivic's post about which parts I need.

 

Sorry, my mistake... my engine is real D15Z6 , my head is like USDM Y5 , V-TEC E and I have 103 teeth.
You can always buy adjustable cam gear and make correct, when do that move crankshaft then correct camgear timing.
