Mini-Me: Timing Questions
I've almost complete my mini me set up, Only thing left is timing...
I have both the Z6 cam gear and an adjustable skunk2 cam gear...would I benefit from using the adj gear? and do I have to do adjust the ignition timing? This is my first rebuild, all has gone well so far...there is a lot of info out there about timing but it all seems to be different, just wanted to know how others approached this.
Thanks,

Re: Mini-Me: Timing Questions
Every time I put my timing belt on with the z6 cam gear, it seems there is too much slack between the crank and cam gear, after turning the engine a couple times by the crank bolt the cam gear is half a tooth short of the 7 o'clock pointer(clockwise-rotation). And if I line up the 7 pointer on the Z6 gear and then swap the Skunk2 gear in I end up at TDC with +2.5 lines adjusted. (1 line = 2 deg) so 4.75-5 degs adjustment of cam gear. The later, I beleive is more accurate but I'm not 100% sure, and from what I understand I could set ignition timing at 16 BTDC. Please correct me if I am wrong...
Thanx,
