Heres a pic of the back of my 90-91 cluster, and my question
Basically I am going to be trying to swap this minty 90-91 canadian gauge cluster into my 89 Crx Si.
Before I went ahead and openned up my stock rhd hood to check if the wiring was going to be compatible, I decided I was going to freshen up the 90-91, I cleaned and polished the lens, painted the needles vibrant red, and rolled the odometer back to where my fresh motor is.
I also came across a thread made by Nihkon about an easy upgrade to the lighting on the 90-91 cluster and it was done by purchasing 5 #74 Matrix 5led twist in bulbs, so I orderred those. But I stupidly didnt very my cluster bulbs were the same as his. But he didnt post any pictures of the back or anything. On the back of my cluster Im thinking the 5 brown twist bulbs are the ones being replaced, but as you can see, the one I circled with 2 circles, has power/ground solderred into the back of it and appears to power the needle lights atop the cluster.
I dont get how I can twist in the new LED bulb but still get power to those upper bulbs. What would/have you guys done to get around this? Or are these wires unique to the canadian cluster possibly?

Appreciate any help

These clusters use either a 74 or a 194.

Read through this entire thread for some tips. disregard some of the OP's suggestions, his cluster is a downgrade as far as i'm concerned. though he does put up some great info on bulb types for different year EF's.
Oh and go with white , you'll likely get sick of colors like I did.
I have tried a variety of bulbs but the only one I can recommend is the "TRI power 3 LED" from autolumination.com (its a 74), but it possible thats not the size for your cluster.
Also as I state in that thread DO NOT do anything to the top light, it is a terrible idea. it drowns everything else out.

Im not sure you read what I wrote, my problem is only the one LED with the wires solderred to it to power the top bulbs
The bulb I orderred does not have wires solderred to the back of it obviously so I need to get power to those bulbs somehow

That wire is just transfering power up to the top light. simply twist this wired plug to remove it and pull the bulb out and replace it. That socket is the same as the others except it has wires coming out the back, not a canadian thing.
Yes I obviously understand it just twists out like every bulb in the cluster and stated that it is supplying power to the top bulbs.
My question is, again, since my new bulbs will not have any wire or any way to solder wire to them, what is a reliable/not ghetto way to get power to the top light bar

install the bulb as you normaly would, then plug it in. if its not working the led is in backwards flip it around.
No mods are needed to do this.
Have you plugged it back in and tested it?

I dont get where youre coming from with any of your replies.
I have no concern with the LED bulbs I purchased. I know how to install them. All 5 of them. I do not have them yet.
My problem, as stated in the first post, the ORIGINAL bulb in the center/right, that I double circled, has factory power/ground wires coming out the back of it, which run to the upper light bar for the needles. My new LED bulb WILL NOT have a power/ground wire coming out the back of it
I am removing that OEM bulb, and thus will have to snip those wires and give them power some other way when the LED bulb takes that bulbs place.

First off DONT snip those wires you dont need to. that is not what you do when putting new bulbs in.
You're right you arent understanding anything.
When you get your bulbs and take it apart you will understand.
The plug on the back that you're concerned about will still be used with your new bulbs. The wires are not attached to the bulb, they are just a "mini harness" with a bulb socket on one end.
You will simply remove the plug/bulb with the wire, look at it. You should notice that there is a bulb that can be removed. Replace it with your new bulb and put it back. Dont change the wiring it stays the same.
The picture in this link shows how the plug/wires are seperate from the bulb http://autolumination.com/images/aut..._holder_wm.jpg
You are overthinking this.
Do you have a link to the bulb you ordered?

lol, omg, and wtf.
these three things are running in my head.
Those brown twist caps with bulbs in your cluster can be separated from the bulb and the twisting cap covers. REMOVE said bulb, insert your LED and twist them back on.
