Its pretty lame. The sponsor or dealers do it on here because they play the how much can i get game. Basically they feel the buyer out and see what their competition is. Once the buyer states where he/she can get it and for what price the sponsor/dealer adjusts accordingly. Instead of trying to increase volume while taking less gain by using a smaller profit margin these guys try to maximize their profit margin on an individual basis. This is time consuming for the sponsor and annoying to the buyer.

Another reason is a distributer/shops has a set price on things like this that they are supposed to sell them for. If a seller gets caught selling these for less than the suggested retail price he can get in trouble and loose the opportunity to do business with the company.
