Icon2 new flywheel weight?

getting my trany rebuild and exedy OEM clutch put in and was looking at aftermarket flywheels. not sure if im going to replace mine or have it resurfaced... kinda depends on the price.

there's 7,8,10,12 lb flywheels for sale. what one do you guys think is best for a 98 d16y7 with intake and full exhaust. its mainly a daily driver but i do occasionally autocross it. i looking into it for increased throttle/rpm response and better in town gas mileage not really concerned with chatter most ppl i talk to said they adjusted to it within a week.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fi...iew/make/honda i was looking at this one... how is the brand or is there a better brand in the price range???

I prefer the lightest flywheel possible, even for daily driving. Rev-matching both upshifts and downshifts was smoother for me than with the stock flywheel. You also get a small whp bump esp. at lower gears.

I had a Fidanza flywheel for many years on my GS-R. I loved it. However, the have a reputation for warping (not the flywheel itself but the removeable friction surface). I'm going to wait to visually inspect mine after 60k of driving before I give it a final recommendation.

I found that too light was bad for the torque or aggression. If you are into autocrossing you are going to miss that. I would go for something around the 10lb range

Why do people always say this? It just goes to show you can't trust butt dynos. Lighter flywheels add whp, and they add more the harder you are accelerating, because they reduce powertrain losses due to rotational inertia. It's not a lot (only a few whp), but there is NO physical way for them to cause a torque loss.

For an event like an autocross, where you keep primarily in a low gear, a lightened flywheel would improve performance. It would be even better for a road course where rev-matching is more important.
