DPFI to MPFI help!
OK so I'm on the last step on my D series swap. I have a 91 civic with the standard d15 dpfi. I swapped in a d16y8... easy just a few bolt on changes. The power steering pump and the alternator and I'm rdy to wire this thing. now I'm clueless on how this is done. what's the easy route. should I just try and find a wire harness and replace the whole thing. will a 97 wire harness plug in to everything I got. What should I do. I know swapshopracing has a conversion harness but its like $500 and I'm not paying that much. any tips or help plz
Just google DPFI to MPFI SWAP. i did mine without posting in here for help and it was my first swap. And i did obd1 at the same time. Its easy, just search. And READ
use your harness, only differences will be a few plugs and the injectors.
set it up as obd1. as the d16y8 is a obd2 motor you will need a new distributor (a jumper might work on it but im not sure, I know obd0 with a jumper wont work on obd1)
its pretty easy to do if you find a thread,
steal the plugs for your obd1/2 sensors off a harness and wire them in, (vtec, 02 sensor, knock sensor, ect ect.)

OK so I have the p28 ecu. And thank you guys the step by step is online. so should I get the jumper harness for the OBD0 to OBD1 then make alterations or should I keep the old ecu in and go off that first.

you HAVE to get the new ecu or vtec wont work unless you rig it on a button (strongly unadvised) as well as tuning abilitys are somewhat more scarce on the obd0. a jumper harness most people use only cost around $50-$100 depending on brand and where you get it, I personally run a ebay harness for $45.
the harness allows you to connect a obd1 ecu to your current harness so no re-wire and harness swap would be needed but there are a few additional sensors required that the obd0 car's don't have in them factory.
you can run the car with the original but it will run much better after the conversion, myself I have ran the D16y8 off of my 91 Si ecu for about 6 months before upgrading to the obd1 setup.
parts are not interchangeable, if you run the p28 obd1 ecu you will have to run the Z6 dizzy, also if you plan to stick with the obd0 as I did you will still need a d16a6 ecu and convert the car to mpfi and wire in a resistor box along with two additional injectors, if you use the stock Z6 injectors however you wont need the resistor box, only need it for the low impedance pre-92 injectors.

OK so I've got the stock y8. the throttle body and the distributer. now I read you can replace the internals from the z6 dizzy into the one I have so it will fit correctly. what else do I need because I thought the p28 would run the stock y8.
