1500hp rear mount turbo Z06 build
Hey guys.
doing the fab work for a buddys C6 Z06 build thats gonna be sweet and one of a kind.
quick over view.
1500 WHP goal
zr1 transmission
keeping AC and stereo
full street car status but fast as *****
Here is the car, obviously its all business, big tire, chute, cage...

the engine, fully built using lsx block

i will see if anyone notices anything special in this picture

if you didn't notice this should give it away...
filling holes in the frame

drilling out the rivets, removing the steel, welding the hole up

filling holes on top of the frame i had to weld up using a mirror which sucked

finding lovely holes like this hiding under the door sill molding

welding them up, whatever they coat these frames with is a biatch to remove and clean to try and get a good clean weld

you also get little suckers like this that you cant even see gotta get welded closed

boost pipe and bov's were more then the hood could contain, not done trimming but its close.

turbo mounted

this turbos huge and a pain to deal with, it weights 84lbs

anyways that all the pics i have uploaded but will work on getting you guys some more pics and details this weekend. just thought i would share the horsepowery goodness

cant wait to see this done. what size turbo and what ems? the zr1 trans must be tough if it was chosen for this build. i got a zr1 and its beginning to "not be enough." shipping it to you right now, haha!

thanks fellers.
YES, its is the first c6 to use the frame rail as a boost pipe. I have found one build using a c5 which is steel frame rail for a big full drag supercharged car.
I dont remember the exact turbo size will have to ask him. its somewhere in the 90 range

I think the Lynch/Petty car uses the frame rail, there is pics of it being built by skinnykid racing, check out there site and that car, its bad *** to say the least.
skinny kid race cars did that 3 years ago on tim lynch's twin turbo vette. do some research there a bunch of ten five outlaw cars out there with this setup. oh and go look up kieth berrys car, did that **** two years ago. looks good and nice fab work. and please dont think i was knocking you

Zr1 transmission is still a TR6060 like the regular C6 but with different gear ratios only the rear differential is bigger, the wheel bearings are different and for some harmonic issues oem worked out the axles are offset in shaft diameters.
So you're not gaining any advantage in strength from the main gear box just the differential axles and wheel bearings (SKF) (if you even have them)

Unbelievable! I love the way you utilized the quad tips for the exhaust and wastegate dumps! Is the car going to get blown apart after fabrication, or are you just touching up the spots you filled in the frame?

The ZR1 tr6060 box does not have powdered metal gears like the other models, but shares the same size input shaft as the z06/GS which is bigger than the base model shaft. That's why it's twice as expensive as a z06 tr6060, and why there are cars making over 2000hp on one.
Build looks good, I've seen it on a few other forums, but with less detailed pics.

I didnt say we re-invented the wheel as this is in no way the first to ever use a frame rail for boost pipe. Racers have been doing that for a long long time, SO if it makes you happy how about i say "we are the first ones doing this in a CORVETTE STREET CAR, not chopped, hacked, tubed, gutted race car" haha. this vette still has a/c and full interior.
haha. the owner is 6'5" 250lbs so idk
