How can I cover this (pic)?

All snide comments aside, OP, you should have a center console there covering that entire hump from the dash to the back of the front seats.
You also shouldn't have freaking ZIP TIES holding your damn shift arms in place...what the ****?

How the **** hasnt that broken yet? Id stop driving it like last month and get it fixed yesterday thats pretty sketchy i havnt even used zip ties on the sol. On the tahoe yes but for my neons
From the looks it appears to be an SI judging from the paint color.
Looks like you are missing the hardware that bolts it all up.
Im wondering why its missing in the first place...?
If im close on the model and year it should be 1999-2001?
Go here if im close to the correct year, and see what you are missing, and start ordering.
IDK who ghetto rigged that but he should be beaten severely about the head and shoulders.

What can you cover it with? Hmm, let's see... a friggin blanket maybe? Or take a photo of a car that is put together right, blow it up and frkin paste it over the hole, lol.
Seriously, just get it fixed.
Dude only has one post, and this is the post. Even though I am bumping a potential troll, I think maybe we got trolled... funny though.

I use wire loom clamps (plastic) and self-tappers or short wood screws in the plastic.
To elaborate:
- Any piece of metal you have laying around will do but, sheet metal is easiest because you can bend it by hand, pound it into shape and it cuts easy.
- Determine the hole size you need for the shifter/gasket then go get a step-bit or hole saw, whichever is cheaper. While your there get a hand riveter and your metal if you don't have it already. If you're only gonna use them once, you could get the tools for dirt cheap at Harbor Freight.
- Cut those zip-ties and and move the shifter out of the way.
- Cut the metal to size and shape. Leave about 1/2" overlap.
- With a sharpie mark your holes around the edge. Space them 1/2"-1" apart, depending on the bend, and within that 1/2" overlap.
- Drill those rivet holes in the metal and use them as a template to mark your holes in the metal of the car, then drill those holes. *Make sure to drill the correct size holes for the rivets you're using.
- Determine placement of the shifter hole and cut it out.
- Get underneath the car. Using the shifter bracket holes as a template, mark and drill some bolt holes. If there are no holes in the bracket make your own holes.
- Bolt that shifter bracket down. Use lock-washers or lock-nuts on the bolts so they don't back out.
- Take your metal and coat the hell out of the edge with good silicon or the JB Weld so it doesn't leak air/water/heat, then rivet it down. Guarantee your hand is gonna be soar after working that hand riveter, you've been warned. lol
------------------------
Or you could try buying that plate new or salvage (pick-and-pull is usually good for stuff like that) and bolting it (or a piece of metal) to the existing holes. There are 2 holes in the front, right? I would still silicon the hell out of it though.

That's exactly what it is. You need to drill the spot welds out of the piece that holds the inner boot from a manual version of the same car and put it in (you can drill 4 holes and bolt it into place)
Also there are 2 1" dimples in the floor behind the shifter, drill a hole directly in the center of each one for the bolts that hold the shift linkage in the back.
