Slight wire tuck on passenger side what to do with charcoal canister.
my evap purge valve broke during my S2:IM install and now im doing a slight tuck. I want to yank my charcoal canister the car is Obd1 and i don't mind gas vapoers being venter into the bay as it's a weekend/fun car not dd. can i just rip it out and plug the whole that goes to the tb. and are there any other holes i need to plug ?. emmissions passing isn't a factor for me either.
its a 94 gsr

Yank and toss if there's a evap purge solenoid keep it and leave it plugged in to wires and nothing else so no codes come up.
there's more than 1 hose that concerns me. and i think the one on the top the goes into a steele line. i think one of these needs to be plugged just asking to see wich one i know i won't get a code.
ok i took it out ! eveything except a line that runs along the firewall is plugged. do i need to plug that line or leave it open ?
Plug all the lines including the "hard line", then drill a tiny hole through the gas cap so pressure can equalize as needed. Does the '94 have the 1/4-turn-cam type cap, or the ratcheting-**** type cap?
Any way you do it, your modifications don't stand a chance of passing DriveClean's inspectors. Hope you've got a buddy who can get you passed as a favor.

ratcheting **** type i think. i've never heard of drilling the gas cap most ppl just say yank toss and plug the lines.
You cant plug the one that goes to the gas tank, it needs to vent for pressure purposes. But I guess you could drill through the cap.
im not up to drilling my gas cap, but ill leave the one that goes to the tank open. as for e-testing(canadian emmisions) the car is 94 so it has one more e-test in it's life to get and i can find someone to pass me.
You are in Ontario, which does have testing. Your '94 is subject to testing every 2 years, forever. My '91 goes for its next test in a few months.
The old 19-year rolling-exemption was cancelled a few years ago.
Ditto the above^^^
Even in provinces that have testing, it is not province wide, here in B.C. we have AirCare down on the coast but up here in the Okanagan, no AirCare.
There are more then a few people from the coast that have summer homes/cabins up here and register their cars, [that will not pass AirCare] up here.
B.C. has decided to scrap AirCare in 2014 for cars and light trucks but instead will start testing heavy diesel trucks and equipment, [backhoes/excavators and so on].
So no worries about my 94 RS with no cat.

ok we'll im still in the clear for this year i think. thought that that 19 y/o thing was still around.
You lucky sons of bees. Our pinko government is so in hock to the enviros that there's no hope in hell that DriveClean will ever go away.
The pinkos' excuse is that if they let older cars alone, the air will become opaque. Never mind that about 0.1% of the cars on the road here are older than 1994. The rest died of rust long ago.
Just two weeks ago, rust caused my 'Teg's entire exhaust (except for the muffler) to revert to iron ore and fall off the car. This means I'm sporting a new Midas cat, which is spitting out a satisfying flood of water at idle. This also means that I can put the thing through another smog test and be fairly assured that it will pass, meaning I get another 2-year ticket. I was going to let the current ticket run out and replace the car on account of the old cat having gotten too old, but now I'm going to keep it for a while longer. I've had this thing for 22-years and put 400,000 miles on it. Parting will be hard.

Hint: The emissions test is good for one year (365 days).
Don't wait until the last minute to go for it, but get the test done less than 365-days before you need to buy the next sticker. That gives you a whole year to sort out any failure.
And if the car passes, then you can relax for a whole year. If the emissions slip is 364-days-old when you go to the license office to buy your sticker, then it's still good, even if the car itself is a wreck by that point!
my dd has an e-test that's good for 2 years(got it done last fall) im hoping my teggy has the same thing going on. i'll be getting my sticker in april and i'll see than but thanks.
