Default 1999 Honda Civic EX Auto Distributor Question

Hi Gentlemen,

I was wondering if this distributor will fit my 1999 Honda Civic EX Automatic Sedan. VIN# 1HGEJ8240XL081819. I noticed there are different disbributors on here that varies from 7pin to 9pin. I believe my engine is a D16Y8. I would really appreciate a lending hand!

That is the correct distributor. I'd look into buying one from distributor king or Richporter technologies first though. Most aftermarket distributors for Hondas are junk. I'd even look at a good used OEM distributor over a new aftermarket unit.

Btw, all '99 - '00 Civics except the HX and Si use the same distributor.

Thanks for your response lovely! Unfortunately, I have already placed my order for this one after calling Honda to confirm the model #. How much of a "junk" do you think these aftermarket distributors are in terms of mileage usage? I don't plan on keeping the civic for too long.

Some people get a few months out of them, some people get a couple of years out of them, it seems to be pretty hit or miss really.

I have one, it has worked fine on a DD for a long time. But, hmmm, it doesn't seem to have an o-ring (like it is not there at all) like the OEM. Do you know if uses a stock o-ring?

The one thing that I experienced with the cheaper aftermarket dizz's (in particular the ones for sale on ebay )is the ignitor going out incredibly fast (they are really cheap looking and cheap working) so I would at a minimum have a good used oem spare.

as far as most ignition parts go, OEM is best... i found that out the hard way by burning though 2 dizzy caps and rotors in a year and a half... and a wire set in a year
