Strange problem with radio..
The radio in my girlfriend's Civic seems to have a mind of it's own. It works occasionally, but most of the time there is no sound coming out of the speakers. The CD player still has power, you can change inputs, volume, etc all without sound. The strange part is that playing with the drivers door (slowly opening/closing) usually fixes the problem.
So what is the significance of the door to the entire speaker system? Is there a ground or something that could be loose in the door that would cause there to be no sound?

If there were any previous owners to the vehicle, the stereo may have been altered. The wiring could have been damaged by any work done to equipment in the door. Is it a factory head unit?
i agree with toyomatt84. it could be the speaker wires and it can also be the cd players out put plug. i recommend that you pull the cd player out a tad bit connect a new wire from the output directly to a speaker just to test it out if it works then its your cable if not its the ouput plug. good luck and keep us updated.
Test your voltage output.
