Icon2 Is anyone running a PLM bigtube header(tri y)

intrested to know if anyone on here is running the bigtube tri y on b18c1 with stock comp. it's reccomended for high comp b18's or b20v's. but my exhaust is 2.36 the header has a 2.5 collector (custom test pipe fixes the size diff) so i still have enough backpressue for low-end imo. im new to hondas learning as i go.

set up
I/H/E/70MM TB port matched to S2 intake manifold/chipped p28 for the mods listed.

I have been emailing all the guys at plm about this header. I told them that my car is 14;1 comp and makes 240hpme and they still suggested the toda knockoff they make over the big tube. I am baffled as to why. I still feel like the big tube would be better but I'm no header expert either.

Idk about that, every bisimoto header comparison I've seen hasn't been in favor of the bisimoto. Beautiful header but TODA 4-2-1 beats it the entire powerband

I wonder if its to try to minimalize the chance of a nasty power dip or the fact the long tube could affect peak performance too much?

I have the regular sized PLM hytech for my stock GSR going int a 2.36" exhaust. My set up is nothing compared to Dave' CRX but I like it and my car runs like a bat out of hell!

OP, we have identical setups. i think a big tube would be to much for you, personally.

i know i had plans on upping my CR...it never happened. so i went with the 2.36(like you) so i figured that would ballance it out and i'd get suffiant back pressure for low/mid. i all ready have this header it was the first mod i bought. given the chace i'd get the regular size'ed one.

i have skunk 2 tuner 1 cams now.(not installed yet) should make this header a little less "overkill". going to get it dyno tuned when the snow melts here !

Why not tuner 2? I always hear good things about those or try a pro 1
Skunk2 makes good stuff theirs tons of haters but
I myself haven't had any of my skunk2 parts fail. Have you seen the ultra manifold?

i have stock compression(solid 220-230 tho) i made a thred on here asking if tuner 2's would result in "over caming". and the overwelming responce was "yes" i'd love tuner 2's or pro 1's as it's a fun/weekend car. im a skunk fan the only thing not skunk2 on my car is this header(mod wise).

Missed the stock compression part tuner 1 may be your best bet.
Now that I catch that, 4-2-1 TODA fakie would prob be best, even beat out the skunk2 alpha

any back pressure created will result in a loss of power you want 0 backpressure but you want to promote scavenging instead

that's true i know, but i've run open header and at low rpms(below 4.5-5k) it feels kinda sluggy(compared to the full exhaust). but it pulls good uptop better than with the exhasut i also have a s2 intake mani with a 70mm tb(port matched). down the line i'll upgrade to a S2 megapower R or RR but for now im content with my build. also have a custom 2.5in I.D straight pipe it's the best balence between open header and the exhaust but it's EXTREMLY loud !!.

i have an 81.5 11.5cr(can only get 91 oct) ls/v and im running a big tube tri-y.

i owned a bisi header prior and still have it so thats saying something as to how junk they are.(no one will buy it even for 300, also a chinese rep in a header test did almost the same as his "custom" made headers)

https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/budget-header-showdown-replica-headers-vs-skunk2-alpha-1-8l-dyno-test-3005484/ =the header test the reps are PLMs
the tri-y out performed the toda on midrange and is basically the same after that(unless youre racing midrange is where you'll be all the time anyways). so it's really up to you. toda's header is a lot better for 1.6's. if i was you id run the hytech tri-y replica.

I'm running the PLM bigtube tri-y on my b20v. Its recommended more for 2.0l and above, but if you want to use the PLM tri-y they also make it in a smaller tube design for 1.8l. A friend of mine had the smaller tube design on his built jdm gsr.

Honestly I don't think it's too much of an overkill, but good luck with your build and if you get it dyno tuned post the results.

Hi,

Finally got around to sending the car to get the new headers installed when we encountered a problem.

The headers are touching the Aircon compressor and as per the exhaust installer cannot install this set. Anyone else faced this issue and any solutions. Can take pics and post if required.

Car - Civic 92~95 EG RHD
Engine - B18C5
Header - PLM Big Tube Tri-Y

I just got rid of my AC. As far as i know you'll have a hard time fitting it with the ac still on the car.
