Default 00 Civic bumper on 97 Civic?

Hey guys!

I have a 97 EX Coupe that is in need of lots of love. The front bumper was black at some point (the car is Cypress Green) and someone painted it to match. The paint is cracking off all over the place, so I bought a bumper on Craigslist that's brand new, but it's for a 2000 Civic. I know you can do the whole conversion with the bumper, hood, headlights and fender, but is it possible to just replace the bumper only?

It looks like the headlights are different on the top, but the bottom looks the same as the pre 99 headlights. Can someone shed some light on this for me? I'd love to use the bumper I bought, but I got it for so cheap that I won't be broken-hearted if it doesn't work.

Thanks for the help!

B16Kenny you are correct the headlights are different as is the whole front end so doing a whole face lift will be the easiest way, 96-98 differ from 99-00 dramatically.

Jspeedrifter use this link it will shed some light

Thanks for the help! I knew you could swap the whole front end, but I was hoping I could just swap bumpers. I was hoping the headlights were the same on the bottom and different on the top, but that must not be the case. Bummer!

I might take it apart just to make sure . Either way, this thing is the daily beater, so it isn't going to get the whole conversion unless I come across one REALLY cheap!

The more I compare photos, the more it looks like the lines are the same for the bumper. It really looks like the hood, top of the headlights and fenders are different. I hope that's the case, but everything I read says otherwise!

So, quick update: The bumper will fit around the bottom of the headlights fine, but the grills are so different, it just looks silly .

Looks like the bumper will be for sale. Check your local Craigslist! Thanks for the input guys!
