How to make my EK weighless????
Hey guys im new to the game and plan on building a drag car but still street able. So was seeing how to lighten my 99 honda civic ex. I know that i should use a dx model or hatchback cuz its lighter but i like my ex coupe. SO any ideas or what ya been doing to cut some weight on the car thanks
If you plan on keeping it on the street, dont remove the airbags or bumper supports. People die when they get into accidents due to weight savings.
Take out all the seats(lightweight racing seat for driver) spare, tools, glove box, carpet, interior panels. Lightweight battery, header, exhuast, intake. (weigh less than stock)
Lightweight rims/tire combo.

It really depends how far you're willing to go. Do you want to hear a bunch of street noise? Because that's what will happen once you start gutting a vehicle.
How much is it going to be on the street? Short distances occasionally? Or nearly every day? You could go as far as just leaving the steering column and a driver seat really.

I want to know the purpose of leaving the B pillars in place. And that is a hell of a weight reduction. That would even make a F22B2 with an automatic transaxle fast.

Was done in early 2000's when this car was pretty new. I remember picking up the issue that had it and thinking wow they wasted a good 10-12k

The old jackie chan movies always had a fwd car cut in half and running around just by the front wheels
I think for DD you really can't do much more to a civic. They're already so noisy/vibrate/etc... There little tin boxes to begin with.
If your car is going to be a weekend toy (hpde/autocross):
spare tire
seats
carpet
wiring
a/c & brackets
ps & brackets
undercoating
swap to thiner glass
swap to lighter rims
swap to light body parts
remove dash and all wiring/brackets/metal
gut doors
All that maybe is 500lbs and now you have faster car that is no fun to drive on the street and you will only be able to sell for pennies on the dollar.
If you have the space and time and track your car 10 times a year I would do it in a heart beat. I drove a friends dedicate race car instead of my DD on the track it so much more fun. Not faster ( my friends only had porsche 944 ). Proper setup race car is more reliable/safer on the track. I don't know enough about autocross did know how hard that can be on the car. I will let someone else chim in.
If you don't track your car I would spend your money some where else.
