LS integra air box fitment in EG hatch?
Hey HT i have a b18b1 in my eg hatch and im going to get it state reffed this week and need a legal air intake. So i borrowed my friends stock air intake from the same year b18b1. I put it on and everything but i cant bolt it up. Im not sure on the sensitivity to the air intake just floating there when i go get it reffed. So i just need some suggestions how to bolt it up. Or if they even care if its bolted up? Thanks!
Er. Maybe say WHAT is preventing you from bolting it up? Maybe a pic would be even better? This thread is useless without one or the other.
The the air box bolts doesnt align with the stock air box from the d15b8. So basically you cant bolt it down how it should in a stock integra. Get it?
I think it will depend on your ref. I had my b18c BAR'd last year with a ls intake box floating in my engine bay. I used that one since I had a S2 IM installed. My ref didn't notice or didn't care. If it is an issue perhaps you can make a bracket to bolt it down.
You can use the stock D15 airbox but the tube from the throttle body has to be from another car i believe.
Im in the process of doing that now. It passed smog and was ref'd using a CAI with a CARB decal.
The car passed with flying colors because it was just rebuilt and the ref said it was one of the cleanest older engines he had seen.
Search the thread its been covered before.

^ yep I used a D16/D15 stock box and an intake tube from an H23 trimmed to fit and it has done well for me. Nice and quite with cheap filters that are easy to find and replace.
I have it hooked up to a B16A. The outlet of the D16/D15 air box is slightly larger than the diameter of the throttle body. No worries there.

Fits just like it would in an integra except only the back bolt lined up on the mounting perch on the shock tower...the front 2 dont have anything to mount to.

BryanM yea that would work! but i dont know if a ref will mind if its not the b18b1 sticker on the top? I still have the d15b8 box and tube.
Juggernaut-ctr: I tried that but since i have AC lines in my car the box wont go down far enough for the hood to close.
Turbodynamx: yea hopefully they dont care. Im taking it to a local college in Modesto(MJC). To get it reffed. I heard theyre pretty lenient but i dont know.

Yea its mostly a California thing..
I found out that it does need to be bolted down by at least one bolt. But no matter how i set it up the AC lines push it up so the hood doesnt shut.
