Default Need Help!! I have an LS Turbo EG HATCH...

ok so i just got an LS turbo eg hatch. I WANT TO PUT NEW PISTONS AND RODS AND BUILD IT MYSELF SO I KNOW ITS ACTUALLY BUILT. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OUT WITH WHAT TO BUILD MY MOTOR WITH AND STILL MAKE GREAT POWER WITH A RELIABLE STRONG TUNE?!?

so the car was tuned by JOEL TUNING in pa or DE.. i believe hes from there?

so its a b18b1 and supposeduly has the follow(NO HEAD WORK):

b18a1 pistons
eagle rods
high power bearings
arp rod bolts.
stage 4 clutch
ramhorn turbo mani
hks blow off
golden eagle blow off sensor
3 bar map senor
560cc injectors
type r oil, water, and fuel pump(which i dont think makes sense because its non vtec)
GSR shiftlinkage

car was dyno tuned and made 343hp and 296 tq. dyno tuned on chrome on 17 lbs. car has 2step at 5000 and cut off at 7200.

ok so my question is, IS THIS **** STOCK ?!? i was told you canT use stock pistons with eagle rods and you cant use type r oil pump because the motor is NON VTEC.. who else thinks this car is bone stock with just a good tune?

finding out if it has aftermarket rods is easy enough. just drop the oil pan. you can use oem pistons on aftermarket rods, just gotta have the pin bushings replaced.

you can use a 'type r' oil pump. 96+ b series oil pumps are all the same though. it is possible to use the water pump also.

what the hell is a golden eagle blow off sensor? high power bearings?

could be stock, might not be. no way we can tell you if it is or not. i don't get why you would replace the rods and not do pistons at the same time.

that power should be good enough to get you in low 12's with slicks . I donth see why you want more . from the sounds of your knowledge I would just keep it as is and enjoy it . with that type of power on the streets I bet traction sucks . maybe unless you have some sticky tires

All b series oil pumps are the same, from ls to type r... exact same part number depending on year

Pumps up to 95 (obd1) have one part number
Pumps 96 (obd2) and up have a different part number

This is due to the obd2 pumps having mounting provisions for the crank sensor, which on obd1 motors is in the distributor

I highly doubt you have the skills to do any major internal work base on how you post... so let me ask you this...

If nothing is wrong with the motor why **** with it? Clearly it runs like it should and makes good power... so why pull it all apart and risk messing something up? You'd have to break the motor in (again, doubtful you know proper break in procedure) and then it would have to be retuned.

As others have said, drop the oil pan and look up into the cylinders.... forged rods and pistons will be blatantly obvious compared to stock ones

If you're still unsure after dropping the pan, post pictures for us to see.

Ripping a motor apart just so you "know" its built is stupid.... the motor may never run right again, have bad clearances, spin a bearing, have **** compression due to improper ring gaps, etc.

Drop the pan, see what's in the motor and go from there... if it turns out the motor isn't built (which it has to be at that power level, really, for reliability) I STRONGLY advise you to take it to a reputable shop and let the professionals do it. That way its done right and if something goes wrong, you have some action of recourse. As opposed to you doing, ******* the whole thing up and having no way to fix it

From your initial post I would tell you to never try to build the engine yourself, ill have to call the ATF on you for making a time bomb.

To answer one of your last questions, no you cannot use Eagle H-Beams with OEM type pistons. You can't use press fit style pins in Eagle rods because they use a brass bushing in the small end that cannot be expanded by heating (to insert the pin) because it would distort.

If your concerned about what's inside it just take it to a mechanic who has a bore scope. No tear down needed so long as you have a bore scope small enough to get past the windage tray.

Thank you @wantboost. I appreciate the feed back compared to all you people who say this thread makes you laugh. This is why the HONDA GAME sucks. People ask questions and you idiots laugh. I wasnt going to take it apart myself, a shop was going to do it professionally and I was going to REBUILD what I already have.

Its because people on here are lazy. If you dont atleast attempt to use the search feature on the forum and do your own research before you post broad questions, chances are you will get flamed. Dont attempt to do this yourself if youve never done it before. Unless youre going to have somebody completely assemble the motor, you shouldnt do it yourself without help. You need special tools to measure gaps and tolerances. You have to be able to read the tools and interpret the measurements. Simple mistake can destroy your motor. If you really wanna learn how to do it, buy a factory manual and pick up a junk block from somebody or a junkyard, something cheap and take it apart and follow steps to rebuild. Check bearing clearances, follow all procedures and so on. Thats how i learned and it was definitely the best way for me.

And like said before, dont even bother taking it apart if it runs fine. Not necessary.

i was never going to actually do it myself. i meant that is in like ill buy the parts and have a shop do everything. i planned on having certified racing do everything for me. i meant it as ill buy all parts an have a professional do it ALL. my mistake for not saying it exactly liek that
