Head gasket dead, up the creek... SOS?
I realize this is pretty left field, and I haven't been actively tuning the car for several years, between mortgage and bills it just hasn't been in the cards, so I'm trying the Hail Mary.
If anyone here can reliably replace a head gasket (nothing fancy, just an oem replacement) I'm willing to throw some dollars to make it worth your while.
It's my commuter and I just need it to continue to drive reliably as I can't afford new car payments.
I'm slightly mechanically inclined, and totally willing to assist in whatever way I can, but I'm not nearly adept enough to handle this kind of repair with confidence.
The shop wants $1500, which I can't afford.
If there's anyone willing to help it is much appreciated, and again, I wouldn't ask you to do it for free.
Car is '98 DC2. About 123,000 miles. And everything else is healthy (Shop replaced timing belt, tensioner, water pump, etc @ 100,000 miles).
If you're willing to help let me know either here or a PM.
Thanks much.
