My ITRs 01-1026, CW 98-448, & CW 98-890
Hey Guys
I've been on Honda-tech for many years and have owned 3 ITR's through out my time here. I hardly post anything on here, but I've kept myself busy reading the forums on how to's and DIY. I've learned so much through the years and more about the ITR than I ever thought I would.

On a side note I am trying to sell my current ITR. I have it listed on Honda-tech, Craigslist and Ebay Motors.
I have a 7 month baby boy now and he is my world. Its time for me to be a daddy. If I was filthy rich I would just keep the ITR. But realistically my family needs a bigger a car. A sedan and a ITR is just not practical.
I wasn't sure what to list the ITR for. I might have listed it way too high in the beginning but dropped the price based on what others are posting their ITR for sale and their condition. Its listed the same price on all three sites for $12,500 obo. We all know there are tons of low ballers. I figure it would give room for negotiation. No.....
I get offers like 6K or 8K without them even looking at the car.
Then today I get this kind email from a gentleman on Craigslist.

You should feel bad about trying to take advantage of people on craigslist. The car has 150k and 6 previous owners but you still want 12500 I know what the car is worth and its far from that I hope you feel ashamed and karma bites you in the ***!

Well I am just asking my fellow ITR owners and Honda-tech Community. What is a fair price? To me I think its a fair asking price. But 6k or 8k just sounds way too low for me. The extra money would go to my sons savings/college fund.

yeah I think 9-10k obo is a very fair price for the car. Tranny isnt oem, neither is the short block, those things effect the price a lot.
The car seems to be clean on your for sale thread for it. But 150k miles and 6 owners is alot.
I got 13k for m 99k mile 2 owner R.

The Tranny is OEM ITR and so is the short block.
Major Engine Work all OEM parts from Acura/Honda and were professionally installed
OEM USDM ITR oversized pistons .25. bored and installed in 2007
New OEM ITR Short Block in 2007
New OEM Acura ITR Tranny in 2007
And although I think that AFFECTS the value a lil bit, this is not a low mileage 50K or less vehicle it's a HIGH mileage ITR, that has been refurbished, worth at least 10K. If u let it go for 8K I'll snap it up today don't let these tools tell u otherwise.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yes it is oem on the tranny and short block. Have copies of the receipts to prove it.
I plan on taking more pictures of the car today.

So it is the original stuff that came with the R from the factory? has matching vin plates on tranny. block and fire wall?

what's the compression in the engine? if it's north of 230psi and the car uses less than 1qt of oil every 2000 miles i'd say 9-9.5k, if it uses more or has less compression it's down around 8
it's a 150k mile car with 6 owners. if i was going to buy an R i'd look for a 50k mile 2 owner car and pay 12-13 for it
high mile, high owner cars never really fetch that much. besides that are there any accidents on the carfax? that also can effect value
there's nothing wrong with asking 12, just realize where most smart offers will come in. people that buy an R are most likely going to really know values and really know what they are looking for
to me the perks are that new short block and transmission. that's 4 grand new by itself. provided you didn't beat on it, no grinds and no compression issues
list a detailed description of every rock chip in the car, scratches, interior condition, engine compression, bushing condition and pictures under the car. be as transparent as possible with any buyer listing all known issues.

All vins match on firewall and other parts except the tranny and block. Due to it being replaced. The block does have the B18C5 and Rdot stamp on it, making it a factory oem replacement.
I would put it up for 10 obo and see who bites. A true R collector/ enthusiast will know the fair price.
racebum said it the best. lots of parts will need replaced due to wear and tear.
Its hard selling a R alot of people that offer numbers and theres no cash to be seen alot of stupid trades. Some people offer trades as civic with swap or integra for equal value like wtf are they thinking seriousely why would some one go from a type r to a swap civic jsut why ?
it took me several months to sell mines and finally i let her go for 12k its was a 2000 88K miles All matching vins no accidents clean title no stories no hidden problems nothing ! i had couple people come by and saw it try to low ball the hell out of me but finaly a buyer came knew what he was looking for saw all details cons and pros and made a offer and actualy came thru.
I pick up my 98 ITR for 6500 with 120k on it about 9 months ago. all matching vins onlything has a rebuilt title
you should ask anywhere from 8-10k and if you can put the car back to stock would sell faster.

Put it 10K if someone offers you 9.5k then take it. 6-8k is just idiots low balling. Don't bite in. Someone who appreciates an R will buy it. But seriously 12.5k is way to high for your mileage and owners. You can usually fetch that with like maximum 120k two owners non east coast car etc..
You should write the guy back and tell him to mind his own business. It is your car, ask what you want for it. I don't think you'll get 12.5k, but that doesn't mean you can't start there and come down to weed out the lowballers. Good luck with your sale.
To the last picture, Ur Son Kaleb looks happy
I don't think he wants u to let the CaR Go. He said hold onto it longer and u will have more money for his college tuition.
That last photo is pretty awesome. My son loves to jump in the driver's seat, turn the wheel and hit every button he can reach.
Good luck with the sale and be very, very careful with Craigslist when it comes to giving out personal information. As far as the frustrated buyer, well, that's his problem and they probably have personal problems to be sending a nasty response like that.
When it's said and done, you should be able to get $7-9k I'd imagine. The hardest part will be finding a buyer with the cash, as it's difficult for young people to get loans on high mileage ITRs that are now 10+ years old.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their feedback. The smile on my son's face makes me wanna keep my R. But in reality we can't keep it and have 2 other cars.
Maybe one day when my son is older we can look for one and work on it together as a project.
Price has been updated on my listings to 10,500 obo for my ITR.
Thanks again everyone.

If u posted your car up maybe 2 months back I would of gave u 9k for it, but I'm happily living with 00-567 now. Don't take anything less than that, there are still a lot of ppl out there that appreciate this car for its value.
