Default Looking for information on hatchbacks, aftermarket brand parts, and lowering

Hello HT, currently im looking for a eg/ek hatchback because i just got rid of my 2g eclipse and i was wondering if anyone can link or share any information ill need to know about these hatchbacks besides wikipedia. I also dont know everything about cars but im currently taking a engine rebuild/repair class for college and i was wondering and good aftermarket brands i should know for hondas. First mod i plan on doing is lowering the car with adjustable coilovers and putting some 15" Slip Stream Rotas on the car. I would like to know how much should i lower the car from stock height before i need to roll the fenders etc. Also how wide can i get the tires? Also which model for the hatchback should i be looking for? cx/dx? Or which motor should i get with the car? Any other information would be awesome.

Read the stickies. Every one of your questions are answered there.

Skunk2 would be a good start for suspension, and other parts.

I would not recommend 15's, the used tire market for those are nill.. I would go 16's or 17's that way if you need a tire you can grab one used for 10 to 30 bucks

Adjustments, on the ride, would be you're prefrence..

thanks for the info, and my goal is to make my hatch to look something like this, http://www.duchesslike.com/2011/09/l...ng-it-big.html, except rotas instead of the classics and i dont want massive camber. I also forgot to put if all hatches come with drum brakes in the rear?

Skunk2? Bad choice. Check the Suspension section in the stickies.
16" is the max I would go. Unless you like riding on what amounts to rubber bands.
1.5" drop is conservative.

Read everything you can. Nothing new to be done to these cars since it has all been done. Check the Appearance section.

Junk2 is just that - Junk. Used tire market? Who the hell cares about used tires? Tires are arguably one of the most important parts of your car - don't risk that to some backyard discount bullshit. 15" is the best wheel option for our chassis as far as tire availability goes.

I'm talking about IF you need a tire, you dont have 100 bucks to spend on a new one to get home.. I can buy a set of pirelli 16s 215/50 front 215/55 rear for 300 new mounted and balanced thats for 16s
15's range from 108 a piece to 200+ a piece cause there isnt a market for them anymore

And I have a full S2 setup and its great so.. But oh well

I highly recommend you shop around and do not buy Skunk2 suspension products.
They are junk.

Garbage bushings and ball joints. Coilovers are known to be extremely stiff, with under damped shocks. Which makes for an uncomfortable, and bouncy ride.
adjustments that don't do anything, and shocks that are known to blow.

This is coming from someone with Skunk2 parts, not just someone who is bashing them.

How wide you can go on a 92-95 hatch. ( might be the same for 96-00 hatch )
https://honda-tech.com/forums/wheel-tire-56/93-hatch-widest-wheel-15-16-17-a-3112361/

cliff note version 205/50/15 rota slip streams ( 1565 = 15 inches x 6.5 inches 40 mm offset ) not to low or your car will rub like mine did. I had to run -2.0 camber for my car not to rub in the rear with 180lbs of passengers in the back of the car. All in the above link with picts.

The BIG FAQ thread:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/faqs-frequently-asked-tech-questions-1998336/

From my understanding 15 is the best choice for DD. 16 has less tire choice that either 15 or 17 but you can fit bigger brakes. 17 a LOT of people have told me it would not be very good for DD.
