Default NewCarScent's low n' slow low budget DB1 build thread

Okay, so I've been meaning to make a build thread for this car for the longest time now and I am just now getting around to it.
I'll try to be decently detailed about this, so bear with me.
Here's the beginning of this book, feel free to skip to the pictures:

I picked this car up last summer as I was building my boosted prelude (old ad for it can be seen over he'zerrrr: http://hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=3054006) so i could have a daily.
I came across a very short and undescriptive ad while doing my daily craigslist scavenging ritual and decided to text the guy.
He had traded his EK coupe for this car and felt like he had gotten ripped off.
The car was rough around the edges and wouldn't start in the mornings and he couldn't figure out why, so he just wanted to get rid of it.
When I asked him how much he wanted for the thing, he told me $500 would do, and that was that.
I live in the northern suburbs of Chicago, and the car was in Indiana, so a lovely 5 hour drive was in order. I packed my set of wheels up in the Oldsmobile and we set sail with my friend and his Miata.
We stopped by a rainy JDMC event in Chicago and picked up one of our friends that was already there to help us juggle three cars on the way back from bubblefrick Indiana, the home of the nothingness and cornland, sprinkled with random bits of extremely shady small towns and its fair share of bumpy country roads.

These are some pics that the guy sent me via text before I decided to pick the car up:

Needless to say, I was exited.
Who wouldn't want to own this rolling hunk of beaty for a measly $500?
Ever since owning my last DA Integra (which can be seen here: http://hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=2976157), i was dying to get my hands on another.

I test drove the car real quick, gave the dude some moneyss$$$ and threw my rims on real quick

We started to go back home, and I was surprised by how well the car drove and handled the trip overall. Slmost 6 hours of non stop driving and she behaved like royalty.

We got a little lost on the way back (thank you google maps!) so I decided to take a couple shots of my newly acquired toy.

More of this story is soon to come!

I now have euro style clear corners because I got them for next to nothing.
My buddy with a DA9 just ordered a set of OEM style Depo brand clear corners and they look really good. I think I'm going to order a set of those in the near future. I'd like to eventually get the JDM one pieces, but that's a distant dream for now. The pics above are how the car looked when I first picked it up, which didn' last very long. Long update to come tomorrow.

What the hell are euro clear corners? They dont even have corner lights in europe cause they are 1 piece headlight

And what are "oem style" clear corners? Oem corners were never clear.

Just call them clear corners for god sake lol

You notice how I threw the word "style" in there?
I'm not saying that they're EDM and USDM corners.

Euro style corners means they're clear and have no lines inside of them for proper light deflection.
Basically, they look like cheap altezza styled garbage.
Why did I get them, you ask?
One of my corner lights was broken and they were five bucks.
This is what they look like:

As far as the OEM style ones go, they are exactly what they're called.
They have the proper lines inside of them for light deflection, but are completely clear.

Any further questions?
Google, bro. Google.

Okay, so it took me a little bit to gather and organize all the pics from several different devices onto one folder, but I finally got it done.
Better late than never, but never late is better...
Enough of the uber gay Drake references.

I'm gonna make a Quentin Tarantino here and go back in time, to then go to the future, to then go to the present. You get the idea.

I found a few more pics of the car that the owner had sent me before I had made the trip to pick her up

The passanger side rear wheel well was pretty nasty:

The driver side wasn't all that bad:

The trunk had a decent amount of rust on it too, but that was the least of my concerns:

First day driving it to work:

Pulled it in after hours and got to work:

I ended up taking all four seats out, cleaning all of the interior, buttoning up some panels here and there, removing the purple'd out tint on all four doors, installing my Password:JDM shift **** out of my Prelude, installing a Wink 5 panel rearview mirror since the car came without a rearview, and fixing a couple electrical things here and there.

The next morning, I was feeling pretty good about my purchase.
I still didn't know why the hell the car hated itself in the morning and took 15 minutes of cranking to start up.
A little online research later, and I diagnosed it to be the ECT sensor.
Sure enough, $15 later and she was running good as new.

Soon after, I bought a new driver seat off a friend of mine to replace the torn to $h!+ one that came with the car

Meanwhile, i was finishing up the build on my Prelude's engine. And what a monster that came out to be.

Nothing better than working on cars and having some brewskis

In the progress, I also convinced my friend to sell his Miata and pick up a DA

Needless to say, he loved me for it...

So that summer was a fun one.
Messed around in the teg a lot, lowered it as far as I could just for funziez,
Repaired the rust on my trunk and painted it flat black,
Got rid of the baller 17's and got some 15" Rota Group N's with Yokohama S. Drive tires on 'em
Did some funky leopard print duck tape door panel inserts (haters gonna hate)

While cleaning up my car a bit, we decided to clean up the rear end of my friend's car too.
We took away all of his fading clear/paint, shaved his emblems, painted his hatch black, and added some stylish 93 tails.
Our cars were almost matching.
Yeah, we're queers.
Get over it.

I then decided to detail my engine bay

I also made a stencil of a rising sun and plastidipped it onto my gas lid

And more stickers!

So somewhere in there, my front passanger side wheel bearing decided to poop out on me, so I replaced that bearing, both front rotors, front pads, and all accessory belts.

I got really good at parking this thing, and to be honest, I had fallen in love with it.

It was at this point that I thought the car looked its best.
I got a ttention at every meet I went to, mainly because people had no idea what the thing I was driving was.

Notice the front fender in that picture?
Funny story there.
My ex/friend-with-benefits/girl-i-was-living-with-at-the-time made me beyond angry for some stupid reason that I can't remember and i decided to go and take it out on my already dented fender instead of something (or someone) else
So I'm chilling outside, cooling off on the front step of the place, and cops show up.
Aparently one of the neighbors had heard the noices and thought that someone was out slashing tires (dafaq?)
I told them that it was just me taking my anger out on my personal property and they ran the plate to make sure that it was my car and not someone else's.
Apparently, I had a warrant for my arrest that I didn't know about from some outstanding apperance in court from some ticket I had gotten in bumblefrick a long time ago.
Just freaking great.
The d-bag that handcuffed me without even telling me what I was being arrested for was, well, a d-bag.
Luckily, the chick cop whose squad car I was put into was really cool and easy going.
Went back to the station where the whole process took place, and I called one of my buddies to bail me out.
$400 later, and I will never punch my car again.
For now...
But anywho, this is what my car ended up looking like:

Somewhere in there I went to King Motorsport's anual Dyno Day.
I gotta say, I was really digging the Da they were showcasing inside of their facility.
It was simple, subtle, and to the point.
It was amazing to see how well the car looked with the original 91 tails and front bumper.
What I liked most about this car was the 5 lug and RSX wheels, and the way the exhaust came out the back end.

MF-10 hose real anyone?

Soon after, I finished building the motor for the Prelude, dropped it in, and got her running.
I must say, there's nothing more rewarding than driving something that was built by me.
