TODA A's & A2's ?'s
I have searched the fourms and google etc and cant get some specific answeres im looking for.
1. My understanding is that the difference between the A's and A2's is the Large lobe on the A2's is same as the B's?
2. Also how much larger is the small non vtech lobe compared to factory ITR cams?
3. Will the A's or A2's set at 0 on stock ECU and a good working Cat pass CA smog?
4. For road racing purpose with just I/H/E and hondata for tuning and no cam gears what would be the better choice? Im not looking for big numbers just nice mid range pic up and alittle on top. Redline/Fuel cut would be set up at factory 8500-8600.
Looking for the best cam for nice mild gains on a other wise factory C5 and still be streetable and possibly pass CA smog
Any help would be apreciated
Thanks

Do a search as I think we covered the original Toda A's quite extensively about 10 years ago
IMO they (original A's) were the perfect upgrade for a mild build. The high lobe on the B's (and A2's if the same) require non-stock valvetrain parts and you need to rev to make the most of it. Higher compression optional and probably recommended with B's.
IIRC folks with I/H/E, ECU and Toda A's were knocking on the door of 200whp. And the motor was very reliable in that state. Midrange torque was also much better due to the low-lobe on the A's.
No cam gears? I'm pretty sure any Toda cam requires the use of adjustable cam gears to actually see any benefits. This is what I was told, so I'm assuming someone else has tried it. Otherwise, if no cam gears you're probably best sticking with OEM cams.
