Yes factory use silicone I use some copper silicone from auto store put where gasket meets cam caps both side of caps I even put between the gasket and valve cover . Make sure to use some brake cleaner on a rag to clean off any oil that is there . Also Dont glob it on. Use pea size drops .

Friend has an ALL data subscription an it only recommends using silicone on the valve cover gasket if you plan on re-using your old one to help with possible seeping that can appear
